Denise O'Neil Obituary

Old Lyme - Denise H. O'Neil, 42, of Hatchetts Hill Road, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Middlesex Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1966, in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of Nicholas and Ida Giaccone.

She married Patrick O'Neil on May 11, 1991, in North Kingston, R.I.

She received her B.S.R.N. from University of Rhode Island.

Denise loved to travel with her family and enjoyed her trips to Germany to share some of her heritage with her children. She loved to take walks on the beach. She was a wonderful mother and kept busy trying to keep up with the myriad daily activities of her three children. She always talked fondly of the years she lived in Washington, D.C., and worked on Capitol Hill.

Mrs. O'Neil is survived by her loving husband, her son, Kyle, and her two daughters, Caitlin and Caleigh, all of Old Lyme; her brother, Nicholas Giacone of Enfield; and sisters, Silvia Milicki of Enfield and Suzanne Roberts of East Windsor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Christ the King Church, Old Lyme. The service time will be announced in Monday's edition of The Day. Interment will follow in Duck River Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Lane, Old Lyme.

To the Giaccone/O'Neil Family,
Unfortunately we just heard the news today. I can't express how sorry we are for the loss of your daughter, sister, wife and mom. I grew up with the Giaccone family and even though we didn't stay in touch I still feel very connected to the family since we all grew up together. Please accept our condolences and if there is anything we can do please let us know.

Dear Sylvia, Nick & Suzanne,
Losing anyone is a difficult thing to endure; losing a sibling is so much harder. We're all supposed to grow old together and laugh about years gone by and things our parents never found out. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers, as are the rest of your families.

Dear Ida & Nick,
I have seen the pain caused by losing a child and I cannot offer words that would ease your pain. My heart goes out to you both and I pray for God to be with you during this sad time.

Dear Patrick, Caitlin, Kyle & Caleigh,
Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I pray for you that you will find strength in God and comfort in the wonderful memories you have of your wife/mom. God bless you.

With love,
Lori (Chapman) Longfritz
