He was born Oct. 23, 1948, in Maryland, son of the late Eben and Christine Duerr. He lived in Mystic before moving to Florida in the 1970s.
He was a 1966 graduate of Robert E. Fitch Sr. High. He enjoyed playing music, singing, playing with his grandchildren, exploring nature, helping his friends and neighbors. He was an avid history reader. He also enjoyed football and baseball in his younger days. He taught himself to play a 12 string guitar, mandolin, and piano. He worked many years manufacturing homes at Homes of Merit in Florida.
Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Sean Duerr and Christina Urbina, both of Lakeland, Fla.; three grandchildren,Yasmine Duerr, Makayla and Caden Dinsmore; a brother, Eben "Skip" Duerr of Middletown; two sisters, Judith Williams of Vanceboro, N.C., and Carole Burdick of Ledyard.
There will be a private family service.
