Dorothy Loomer Obituary

Melbourne, Fla. - Dorothy H. "Dorrie" Loomer, 101, formerly of Old Lyme, passed away March 16, 2024. She was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Stratford Ontario, Canada, the daughter of William M. Halbrooks and Edith Young. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph T. Loomer; and daughter Molly Loomer.

Dorrie was a stewardess for United Airlines and over the years, she was an independent trailblazer. She toured Ireland solo on her bike, lived in her motor home touring the United States, and wrote a self-published book about camping. Dorrie was very artistic, painting and building miniatures that she shared with so many.

Dorrie was a real estate agent in North Augusta, S.C. and Old Lyme, where she lived with her family before moving to Florida. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Dorrie is survived by her son Tim Loomer and his wife Kathy of Melbourne, Fla; Susan Tom of Fairfield, Calif.; Louisa Broadbent and her husband Dick of Mystic; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours and no formal service. Atlantic Mortuary of Rockledge, Fla. is handling her cremation.
