Douglass Walker Obituary

East Lyme - Douglass H. Walker, 68, of 5 Wynn Circle, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Norwich on Oct. 8, 1942, the son of the late Douglass and Elizabeth (Allen) Walker.

Douglass served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War having enlisted on Nov. 11, 1960, and was honorably discharged on July 10, 1964 with the rank of lance corporal. He was employed for 20 years as a machinist at Pratt & Whiteny Corp., before retiring. He was a avid outdoorsman. He was married to Daphne (Morales) Walker who died on Aug. 27, 2004.

Survivors include two daughters, Olivia Walker of Groton, and Rachel Watts of Glenwood, Minn.; two sisters, Harriet Desrosiers of Pensacola, Fla., and Elizabeth Thompson of Lisbon; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Versailles United Methodist Church. Following the serivce, military honors will be presented. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. St., Taftville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360 or theVersailles United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 374, Versailles, CT 06383.
