Eddie was born in New London to Edward A. Bauer Jr. and the late Thelma D. (Smith) Bauer. At adolescence, his family moved to Massachusetts and from there he left to serve his country in the U.S. Army, B Co., 2nd Bn., 31st Inf., 7th Infantry Division in Korea, returning to Quaker Hill upon his honorable discharge.
Besides his wife, Kathy, of 35 years, he leaves his daughter, Monica and her husband, Kennedy Nichols; his sons, Brian and his wife, Katie (Maher), and Mark with his long-time girlfriend, Kate Woods. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Bauer and his wife, Linda, of Deltona, Fla.
Eddie was so proud of his children and their accomplishments and loved that they are all so close. He was happiest when they all could be together. He was also fortunate to have a circle of close friends that he could count on for anything. All will surely miss his sharp sense of humor and bright blue eyes.
Visiting hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook. Interment will follow at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eddie's memory to Region #4 Education Foundation/Athletics, PO Box 187, Deep River CT 06417.

It's been many many years since we were next door neighbors in Montville, but hearing of Eddie's passing brought me right back to a wonderful time & good friends. Remember the "wine" garden that Eddie and cohorts planted in our garden?
I am so sorry for your loss, love, Bev

My words cannot truly describe the loss of Eddie. I am grateful that my father, my family and I were blessed to know him and his family and wish that the entire Bauer family knows our sadness for their loss. He will be sorely missed but we will try to honor his passing, remembering all the smiles he placed on our faces at one time or another.
