Edward Besky Obituary

Mystic - Edward "Ned" Besky was born in New Haven, May 23, 1946, to his parents, Edward J. Besky Sr. and Margaret O. Besky.

Ned grew up in Thomaston, and attended local schools. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends. Upon graduation, Ned enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in various sites including Vietnam. After the military, Ned moved to Stonington, and was employed primarily as an inventory control manager until retirement. In retirement, he enjoyed lobstering, fishing and serving as a seasonal park monitor at the Mystic River Park. Ned married Andrea (Bonkowski) Besky Sept. 23, 1972.

He is survived by his wife Andrea; his children, Seth Besky of Groton, and Sarah Besky (Alex Nading) of Ithaca, N.Y.; and his sister Carolyn Appel of San Diego, Calif. He was predeceased by his father Edward J. Besky Sr.; and his mother Margaret O. Besky.

A service for Ned will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic. Military honors will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. His family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasocietyorg).

We are sorry for your loss. Our memories are of Ned in the yard at Lords Point. He was always quick to discuss fishing or his garden.

So sorry to hear the news Andrea. I was just thinking of you yesterday as I walk Lords Point. Wondering how you were making out with the move and your husband. I regret I will not be able to attend service for Ned. We leave for Florida Wednesday. I will call when we return in April. In my thoughts and prays. Take care, Mary Penfold
