Edward Moore Obituary

Groton - Edward "Ed" D. Moore, 59, of Groton, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2024.

Ed was born on Kodiak Island, Alaska April 23, 1965, the son of Ernest Dee Moore and Araminta Sue Crowhorn.

He attended Southeastern Tech and graduated from Fitch Sr. High School in 1983. He worked at the Fisher's Island Ferry District, and then turned to a career in truck driving. He enjoyed the open roads, traveling across the U.S., up and down both coasts, the Midwest, wherever his deliveries and explorations brought him. He enjoyed fishing, white-water rafting, and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time with his friends and family, reminiscing and having fun. He was a genuinely kind and caring person, who would not hesitate to help anyone in need. Ed had a great smile that would light up his face, and an infectious laugh that would make everyone around him laugh. He had aspirations to write a book about his life to share all of his adventures and experiences.

Ed was preceded by his parents, Ernest and Araminta Sue. He is survived by his sister Karen Sue; brother-in-law Clarence Ventura, and his fur niece Paisley Sue, his beloved Ventura extended family all from Groton; along with his soulmate Sevil Wynne. He also leaves behind many more close friends and family, especially his caregivers/confidants Tiffany and Cindy whom were a big support to Ed.

Dear Karen & the entire circle of Ed's family & friends,

When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss inconsolable she was my mentor! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?" I hold eternity dearly close...a cherished, hard-won prize...but, in the interim, that answer lies below.

SELFISH TEARS
(I Eulogize My Beloved Mother - March, 1989)

Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!

We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!

So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!
