Elena DeLauro Eleanora Overton

Elena DeLauro Eleanora Overton, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2007. She was born in Richmond, Ind., July 31, 1962 to the late Pasquale and Carmela D'Onofrio DeLauro. Mrs. Overton was a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines before marrying. After raising her four children, she worked as a travel agent at Odyssey Travel Service for many years. She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She loved sewing, traveling and was an avid reader. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all. Mrs. Overton is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Dolphin Henry Overton of the home; daughter, Leslie Overton Mosley of Rocky Mount; sons, Dolphin Henry Overton, III and wife Melissa Godwin of Wilson, Michael Lee Overton and wife, Julia Stovall of Oxford, N.C., Joseph Nicholas Overton and wife, Tracey Fowler of Raleigh; grandchildren, Dolphin Henry Overton IV, Malory Elizabeth Overton, Kathryn Lee Overton, Dolphin Thomas Overton, Philip Craig Mosley, Jr., Sarah Alexandra Mosley, Michael Lee Overton, Jr., Casey Elizabeth Overton, Kenan Elena Overton and Anna Victoria Overton. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the love and devotion of her caretaker, Shirley Katherine Barnes of Wilson. They would also like to thank the staff of Wilson Medical Center for the excellent care they provided throughout her illness. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, with a visitation following from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and other times at the home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Father Phil Tighe officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
