Frederic Lovine Obituary

Westbrook - Frederic H. Lovine, 75, of Westbrook, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was predeceased by his wife, Lauren (Lee) Lovine.

Born in Waterbury, on Oct. 15, 1936, he was the son of the late Frederic P. and Alyce (Best) Lovine. He grew up in Mystic and lived the last 40 years in Westbrook.

Fred graduated from Fitch High School in Groton, in 1955, then trained at the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. Afterwards, he served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962, and was stationed for part of that time in Japan with the Signal Communications Agency as an SP-5. After an honorable discharge, he worked at Kramer's in Essex, Chester Electronics in Chester, and for Jack Lamb Electric in Old Lyme. The majority of his life was spent as an electrician, and for the past 30 plus years, he owned and operated Lovine Electric. Due to his work, he was well known throughout the shoreline. As he closed his business in the spring of 2011, and reviewed for a final time his customer list, he was very honored and touched to have had the opportunity to serve almost two thousand different individuals and companies.

When not working, Fred enjoyed outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed woodworking, computers, and an occasional visit to the casinos. He was a fan of good food and was known as a "regular" at several shoreline establishments.

Fred is survived by his son, Frederic P. Lovine and his wife, Diane, of Wilmington, Mass.; his daughter, Pamela L. Maher and her husband, Daniel, of Clinton; his son, Christopher E. Lovine, of Westbrook; five grandchildren, Evan and Eric Lovine of Massachusetts, and Shannon, Matthew, and Jessica Maher of Clinton; two sisters, Billie Watrous and her husband, Phil, of Ledyard, and Kurt Bacchiocchi and her late husband, Richard, of Melbourne, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to George Brown, who was a customer for many years, but in the end turned out to be much more. George was a tremendous friend to Fred in his final 18 months, and we thank George for all the advice, support, and companionship he provided during that time. The family would also like to thank Connecticut Hospice for making his final days as peaceful and pleasant as possible.

Per Fred's wishes, a private service will be held for family and close friends.

Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so in his memory to Connecticut Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
