You were always the funny bone in the family. You were more like my brother than my uncle. God called you home too soon, but our time here is never guaranteed. Rest in peace uncle Jerry and may the Lord grant peace and comfort to our family.

I remember Jerry from New London High. He was a really, really nice guy. Very genuine and would always take the time to talk to you. Great smile. I can still picture him in his band uniform or flying by on his motorcycle! He was just a really great guy. My condolences to his family. RIP Jerry.

Gerry,
You will be missed. I just found out today that you had graduated to the 'other side' at a meeting here at NNSY where I met you and developed a friendship. I was in shock and still cannot believe that you were gone. You were one of those gentle souls that was easy to be around, and you never got upset with me, even when I had to turn off your power for some reason or another. You just made sure that I was taken care of so that we could get the work done. That is a true team player and that is what I will take away from crossing paths with you. Fair winds and following seas!
Godspeed,
Donnie

Mary,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Jerry when I started at EB. We laughed hysterically, and cried from the hysterics! Jerry was an honest, hard working, and genuine human being. His memory will live on forever!!

To the Mauro family, I am so very sorry to hear about Jerry's passing. Always enjoyed the many conversations I have had with him over the yearswhether it was about the boats we were working on or just life in general. I liked Jerry a lot. "Good people bring out the good in other people" This was true of Jerry and I feel very blessed to have known him if only from a work setting. He will be missed by a lot of folks here on the waterfront and in the Submarine Community. Rest in peace my brother. God Bless.

There's so much that should be said at this time, but no words seem adequate. I am privileged to have known, worked and played with Jerry. A clever, hardworking, quiet guy who was always willing to help in any way he could. Jerry could find humor in the bleakest circumstances. A gentleman who enjoyed life and family. Another Shipbuilder lost.....

Dear Mary,
I am so sorry for your loss, and my prayers are with you and your family. When I think of you and Jerry I remember my first encounter with Jerry in the EB parking lot, when he "thought" I was you. I'm glad I met him and we all shared a few laughs. He will be missed.

Mary and the Mauro Family
My deepest condolences for your loss. Gerry was my mentor and my friend. He used to call me Cha Cha Topi Gigio, I will miss that. I cannot begin to tell you how heavy our hearts are. Gerry entertained us with his stories daily. It was an honor to be his friend, and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for a friend. Mike and I were in home depot one Christmas shutdown arguing over measurements for a Soupy room we were going to build. Gerry happened to be in the other aisle, he came over and offered to help us. I said no this is your vacation time too and I'm sure Mary had her own "honey" to do list. Well he showed up with Mary and his truck full of tools and proceeded to build the room with Mike and Jimmy C's help, while Mary and I sat upstairs and played with my animals. He refused to take any monies and we finally talked him into joining us for lunch, then he tried to pick up the bill for lunch. We didn't let him but,That's just who Gerry was.
I'm sure he is up there keeping St Peter amused.
I will miss him dearly and I'm sure there are many other co-workers who share your loss for a wonderful person that is Gerry.

Jerry will always have a special place in my heart. Growing up in New London it was great having friends like Jerry, but it wasn't until we got older that the true (and lasting value) of his friendship became apparent to me. On May 25, 1986, I sort of crashed (Sue and Mike invited me)a picnic at Jerry's house. It was at that picnic that Jerry played "Cupid" and introduced me to his co-worker and my future husband, Craig. Had it not been for him/Sue/Mike, we would not be celebrating our upcoming 30th Memorial Day together or have our girls Amanda and Stacy Knowing the whole Mauro family has truly been a blessing for us. We'll miss Jerry very much. Our thoughts are with all of you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a gap left for all of us, but especially by all of you, his family. May all the wonderful memories you all have of Jerry guide you thru your grief and bring you peace in your days ahead.
Jerry was a co-work, but I also had the privlage of being his friend. I will never forget the great stories and all the conversations about where we wanted to be when EB was in our past. I still can hear your words Jerry I can taste it, it's right there. Well my friend, I hope you are right there now, telling a good story with a good scotch in hand. I'll miss you JerryRIP
