Known to his friends as "Casey", Mr. White was born July 22, 1941 to George W. and Ellen A. (Cunningham) White, of Waterford. George was a true "Waterfordite" from his early days of scouting, paper routes and civil air patrol to graduating in the first class from Waterford High School in 1960.
George joined the U.S. Army and upon returning home he entered the Army National Guard, Groton. He continued his efforts helping his community with volunteerism for the Oswegatchie Fire Company, he was a "Friend to Seaside", a Little League Baseball coach and manager, and a soccer coach and Pee Wee Football coach. George also ran the weight room at Waterford High at night for the Waterford Parks and Recreations Department.
George was a Union Steamfitter with Local 305, retiring due to his illness in 2003 after 43 years. He served his brothers well on various committees and as chairman of the Apprenticeship Program, chairman of Health and Welfare Committee and as the vice-president of Local 305.
George was united in Holy Matrimony to Susan on June 27, 1970 in New London. He was an active member of the St. Joseph Church in New London and a forty year member of the Holy Family Retreat League in Farmington. George was also an avid boater, cruising his cherished boat "O'Casey" in waters all over New England, New York and Canada.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, George Michael White and his wife, Kathleen Desiree, of North Stonington, Stephen C. White and his wife, Jennifer L., of Preston, and Daniel P. White and his wife, Teresa C., of Oakdale; and his daughters, Elizabeth A. (White) Mioducki and her husband, Christopher Mioducki, of Norwich, Mary Anne (White) Fusco and her husband, Christopher Fusco, of Norwich and Catherine Anne White, of Waterford. Mr. White also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Ashleigh I. and Liam C. White, of Preston and Cassidy A., Christopher J. and Madilena C. Fusco, of Norwich.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Alan Greenwald and his staff, and Dr. Vanessa Johnson and her staff at Oncology and Hematology Assoc. and to Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut for their kindness, care and commitment to George during his illness.
The funeral will assemble at 9:45 a.m. Friday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday evening from 6 to 9.

My Dear Cousin Susan
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Casey. I liked Casey so much, he always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. We were in Aruba with Jack and Jill and returned home this past Saturday night and my Mom told me the sad news. You know that Jack and I would have been there for the funeral if we could have. I know Casey and my Dad will find each other in heaven and exchange fishing and boating stories. God took Casey as he did my Dad to take away his earthly pain. You and your family are in my heart and prayers.
Love your cousin

In memory of my beloved Godfather - "Uncle Casey". I'm grateful for the kind way he touched my life, both as a kid and as I grew older. To his family: Though I'm many miles away, I'm united with you today in prayer.
"Grant him eternal rest, Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him, with Thy saints forever."

Dear Sue,
It's been a while since I last saw you & Casey. I always remember how his eyes sparkled and his face lit up whenever you were near him...just wanted you to know. How lucky you both were to find each other.
