Jeffrey Golart Obituary

Waterford- Jeffrey Thomas Golart, 56, of Pompano Beach, Fla. and Waterford, passed away peacefully Dec. 30, 2020, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, after a nine-month battle with Glioblastoma.

He was born in New London Oct. 27, 1964, the son of Robert and Carol Faraci Golart of Waterford. Jeff grew up in New London, attending St. Mary's School before moving to Waterford. He was a graduate of Ella T. Grasso Technical High School and attended Thames Valley Community College.

After working in his trade education area, Jeff's career path led him to the Gaming Industry at Foxwoods and the Mohegan Sun Casinos. A wonderful opportunity to work for the Seminole Hard Rock Casino presented itself ten years ago. Ever the happy traveler, who was ready for the next challenge, Jeff accepted the position as a Floor Supervisor of Table Games in Hollywood, Fla. It was a natural fit for Jeff to reside, overlooking the ocean that he loved so much. He enjoyed diving in the Atlantic and the Caribbean, snorkeling, boating, and swimming. Jeff was always at his happiest, while enjoying the companionship of the dogs that he cared for throughout his lifetime, especially the rescue dog of his heart, Rudy. Jeff's compassion for others led him to become a moderator, mentor, and advocate for many throughout the Broward County community. Music has always been an integral part of Jeff's life. The enjoyment and appreciation of many bands, attending concerts and travelling to shows, filled his adventurous spirit with joy. His favorite lyrics were from the song "If I Had The World To Give", music by Jerry Garcia:

"If I had the world to give, I'd give it to you

Long as you live, would you let it fall, or hold it all in your arms?

If I had a song to sing, I'd sing it to you

As long as you live, lullaby or maybe a plain serenade

Wouldn't you laugh, dance, and cry or be afraid at the change you made

I may not have the world to give to you

But maybe I have a tune or two

Only if you let me be your world

Could I ever give this world to you

But I will give what love I have to give,

I will give what love I have to give,

I will give what love I have to give, long as I live."

Our hearts are truly broken...until we are one as a family again, you are so very loved.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother Robert J. of Waterford; and his nephews, Michael, Johnathan, Luke and Benjamin; and his great-nephew Solomon; his sister Holly J. Golart and her husband Jeffrey Martin of Waterford and their son and his nephew Jeffrey Jr.; and his dear friend Eva Lemoine, who very generously gave her love and constant care to Jeff in his home, which allowed him to remain safely in Florida until he was able to come home to us.

The Golart family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Air Critical Care who transported Jeff safely from Florida, to his home in Connecticut, The Broward County North Hospital; Waterford Ambulance; Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and Yale New Haven Health, Smilow Cancer Center, Gaylord Hospital and Connecticut Hospice at Branford.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Glioblastoma Research at the Smilow Brain Cancer Center. Kevin Walsh, Vice President of Development for Smilow, P.O. Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508 or Waterford Pet Wellness and Adoption Center, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375.

To The Golart Family - thinking of you. Jeff was my brother in law for a few years and we had some good times at Phish shows and the like. I related to him as the baby of three siblings. RIP, Jeff. Give Rudy and Taka Bon some belly rubs for me.

My heart and condolences go out to Mr. and Mrs. G.(Bob and Carol), Holly, RJ, and the rest of the family. I loved your son and cherished the five years we were together, when we were young. I’ve cried several times over the last day or so, since I heard he had passed. All I can think of is all the music that reminds me of him and the good times we had. He will definitely be missed.
