Jesse Ware Obituary

Ledyard - Jesse "Roscoe" Ware, 73, of Ledyard, entered eternal life on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. He was born on Feb. 2, 1945, in Kimberly, Nev., the son of Jesus Gonzales Casarez and Loma Lee McCown. After the death of his birth father, he was adopted by Jerald Ware, his stepfather. On July 28, 1971, he married Dolores Anne Johnson, and was blessed to have 46 years of marriage to the love of his life.

Jesse began his career as a police officer with the North Las Vegas Police Department, prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he served on multiple FBM's including the USS Greenling, Dallas, Roosevelt, Hamilton and Kamehameha, before ending his career as COB on the USS Shark. During this time, he also received multiple commendations and awards, retiring as a master chief petty officer after 22 years of dedicated and honorable service. He then went on to work for the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections and retired in 2008. Jesse was active in his church, Sacred Heart of Groton, serving as both a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He was always willing to lend a hand and help out anyone in need.

He loved to travel, play cards, go to the movies and always enjoyed a good meal out. But nothing made him happier than spending time surrounded by his family and friends. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, cheering them on in their sports and drama activities. He loved to joke around and will be forever remembered for his beautiful and mischievous smile.

In addition to his wife, Jesse is survived by his three children, Jerald Christopher Ware and his wife Marcie (Fraser) of Canandaigua, N.Y., Michael Thomas Ware and his wife Kimberly (Yerkes) of Uncasville, and his daughter Theresa Anne Judge and her husband Christopher of Uncasville. He also leaves behind his five cherished grandchildren, Kendall, Logan, Jack and Jessica Ware and Morgan Judge; and a beloved niece Karen (Johnson) Micciche and her husband Chris and their two children, Haley and Julianne, of Wantagh, N.Y. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Hannah Marie Judge.

The family will greet relatives and friends between 6 and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 15, at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton.

Burial will take place Saturday, Feb. 17, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic.

Donations in his memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Groton, CT.

Dolores and family, I was saddened to hear of Jesse's or Roscoe as I used to call him, my shipmate and friend, passing on. I will never forget the good times the Kerbys and Wares had together. I dearly loved Jesse's mischievousness and "crazies" he used to pull on me. My thought and prayers are with you and the family. Sailor rest your oar as you are now on eternal patrol.

Rest in peace Jesse. Thanks for helping to raise me along side your children. I remember, among many other great times, during a hurricane maybe early 1990's hanging out for a few days at the Ware house playing pinochle. I am sure Jesse would deny this but I am pretty sure Chris and I kicked their butts!!! Love you Ware family.

Jesse was always the life of the party. He always greeted everyone with a big smile, a warm hug and a few jokes. He was funny, kind and extremely personable. He cherished his family above everything else. This is the Jesse that will always be in my memories. I know he is now at peace and probably smiling down on us all and making them all laugh up there in heaven! We will miss you!
