Joan Lozanov Obituary
She met the love of her life at the age of 18, married and started a family. Soon after she and Merrill moved to Connecticut.
Joan worked for the Niantic News when "cut and paste" meant exactly that. She was a reporter, photographer and ad salesperson, all in one. When the paper closed, she managed Lechter's in the Crystal Mall until retirement.
Joan enjoyed bowling and belonged to a New London league. She loved dancing and performed in the Pfizer musicals every year until Merrill's retirement. Family meant everything to Joan. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do to help family and friends.
Joan passed peacefully at home Oct. 19, 2023. She is and will be missed very much. She is survived by her husband of 70 years; daughters, Cheryl and Helene (David); and grandchildren, Sarah, Charlotte and Ethan.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. Interment will follow in Beth El Cemetery, Groton.

We are saddened to hear of Joan's passing, although she lived a life well-lived. She was a credit to the neighborhood as well as the entire community. May she rest in peace.
