Joseph Gomes Obituary
He attended local schools in Waterford, and later graduated from Grasso Technical High School in Groton. He was currently working as a truck driver for B & W Paving for many years.
Besides his beloved mother Barbara, he is survived by two sisters, Terri Cunningham of Waterford and Kristi MacDonald of Manchester, Vt.; his three nieces, Abrielle and Avaleigh Cunningham and Chloe MacDonald.
Joseph was a wonderful person and will be missed by many loyal friends. He loved his furry friends, Buster Brown, a labradoodle, and three golden retrievers, all named Dakota.
A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Sunday, July 11, at Filomena's Restaurant in Waterford. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375. The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with his care.

First, my condolences go out to his entire family, who like Joey, are some of the most wonderful people I've ever met. Secondly, Joey, was THE BEST person I've ever been lucky to have had in my life. So kind, so caring in a world that constantly gave him reasons to give up and he NEVER DID. I will love him until the day that I know I will see him again.

To the Gomes family. May you find peace during this difficult time. Joe is with his "Dakota's" now. You have my deepest condolences. Joe was a classmate at Grasso and we shared many classes while there. He was always giving us cause to laugh...especially when there was a substitute. He will be missed.
