Kenneth E. Brooks

1946 - 2024

Quaker Hill - Kenneth E. Brooks, 77, of Quaker Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, at Orchard Grove in Montville. He was born in Gloversville, N.Y., Nov. 23, 1946, the son of Arthur and Maude Miller Brooks. He married Celeste DeWick Brooks Sept. 28, 1968, in Mystic. They just celebrated their 56th anniversary. She survives him.

A graduate of Stonington High School, Mr. Brooks retired from the State of Connecticut, where he had been a stationary engineer. He was active in the International Family Worship Center; an avid Buffalo Bills fan, and loved bird hunting. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy.

In addition to his wife Celeste, he is survived by a son, Kenneth M. Brooks (wife Christine); two daughters, Carol Gessner (husband James) and Teresa Barrette (husband Michael); and his sister Deborah Ward. He has five grandchildren: Nicholas Gessner, Nola Gessner, Scott Pease, David Pease and Jessica Lee: and seven great-grandchildren: Carter, Scott, Xavier, Jackson, Lucille, Elizabeth and Sofia.

There will be visitation starting at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (WWW.stjude.com (http://www.stjude.com/)).
