Kevin Conway Obituary

Mystic - Atty. Kevin W. Conway of Mystic, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Jan. 27, 2025, following a long and wonderful life. Born Oct. 17, 1932, in Norwich, to John and Fidelis Conway, Kevin was raised in Baltic and graduated from Windham High School. He went on to graduate from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., a place he loved all his life, and UConn Law School. He was a founding partner of Conway, Londregan, Sheehan, and Monaco Law Firm in New London, and enjoyed his career as an attorney including serving on the local and state Bar Associations.

Kevin was a longtime trustee, and faithful parishioner at St. Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton. He actively participated on various town committees and spent many years with friends as a life member of the Mystic Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. Kevin always tried to leave people happier for having talked to him, which he usually accomplished and was especially exemplified by his work as a volunteer hospice visitor when he retired.

He loved playing golf with family and friends. The many people who knew him will miss his genuine warmth and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life Marjorie (O'Neill) Conway; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Frank DeSisto of Uxbridge, Mass.; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Katherine Conway of Groton; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Christina Conway of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law Maureen Conway and Maury Gittleman of Tacoma Park, Md.; daughter and son-in-law Rosemary and Wayne Robinson of Ledyard; and daughter Megan Conway of Uxbridge, Mass. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew, Marjorie (John), Nick (Alexandra), Maura (David), Michael (Alana), Aileen (Josh), Celia, Fiona, John (Lisa) and Nathan (Cathy); as well as his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Chase, Owen, Connor, Matthew, Hayes, Rhodes and Charlotte. He was predeceased by his grandson Fr. Dennis Conway.

His family will greet relatives and friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton. Burial will be private for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross.

A professional real estate attorney. Had many occasions to close bank mortgages with Kevin at Conway and Londregan law firm. Shared many entertaining rounds of golf too.

Having grown up across the street from the Conway family, I have such fond memories of Mr. Conway as a child and thereafter as an adult who needed legal guidance. He was always so helpful and supportive. My sincerest sympathies and condolences to Marge and the entire family. He was truly a wonderful man.

Dear Conway Family, I was a neighbor and childhood friend of Kevin's children, his son Kevin in particular, at the S. B. Butler School in the 1960s. I have fond memories of the entire Conway family who lived down the street and around the corner from my family (Phillips). I am so sorry for the loss of this kind man, and send heartfelt condolences.

My condolences to the family. I believe I first met Kevin about 1960 while we were members of the Army Reserve in Groton. We remained friends and developed a professional relationship over 30 years until I retired in 1990. He was a good attorney and a good friend.
