Kyle Startz Obituary

Groton - Kyle John Startz, 25, husband of Felicia Lynn (Hardy) Startz, of Groton, died on Saturday, April 12, 2014, of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born in New London, on March 20, 1989, the third son of John Ray and Lockie (Klewin) Startz. A lifelong resident of this area, he graduated from Ledyard High School, Class of 2007, which is where he met the love of his life, Felicia, who he married on Oct. 11, 2013, in Norwich.

Kyle most recently worked for the American Red Cross as a mobile unit assistant. He loved his job and was so proud and passionate about the career choice that he made. His previous work experiences were with Foxwoods in their landscape department and with Grossman's Seaford Market in Mystic.

Kyle enjoyed playing football and basketball while in high school, keeping the tradition of jersey number 22 in the family. He loved to cook and grill for his wife, wrestle with his dogs, steal recipes from his mom, play paintball with his brothers, and go four-wheeling with his friends. He was an avid movie collector, was always working on upgrading the looks of his vehicles, and he loved having the largest TV. He looked forward to going to Yankee games and spending time in his "man cave" while watching his Dallas Cowboys play. Kyle was a true jokester, had that "one of a kind" smile that everyone loved, and was always one to pitch in and help someone out if they needed a hand.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Lockie Startz of Ledyard; his brothers, Bryan Startz of Ledyard and Nick Startz and his wife, Jenny, of Waterford; his grandmother, Lockie Klewin of Mystic; his in-laws, Scott and Leslie Hardy of Ledyard; his sisters-in-law, Trisha Hardy and Mariah Hardy of Ledyard; and also his three nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, John Ray Startz and his grandfather, Charles Francis Klewin.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor his life at a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Mystic Funeral Home, 51 Williams Ave., Mystic. Calling hours will be held from 9 a.m. to the time of the service. Burial will follow at the close of his services at Elm Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ledyard Animal Control and Shelter, 889 Colonel Ledyard Highway, Ledyard, CT 06339 or to the American Red Cross via www.redcross.org/ct/donate.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To Felicia, Lockie & family mambers

Kyle left us too soon. However in a short time he left us great memories.

At Ledyard high school he was a very respected player. He always played with hardness and intensity. He took great pride in wearing his number 22 varsity football jersey. Kyle we will miss you very much.

All our sympathy and love.

My heart goes out at this difficult time to everyone who had the wonderful opportunity to know Kyle. His too early passing has created deep sadness in all of our hearts, and I wish for his wife and family much comfort and peace as they manage this unimaginable and painful journey. Kyle was so full of life… his hugs, smiles and positive attitude were inspiring to those around him. Every day became a GREAT day when he arrived!

There is a tradition that says that the stars are but holes in the fabric of heaven which allow the love of our dear ones to shine on us. Shine on, Kyle...with Love & Light & Peace to you and those you will now watch over.

Kyle, If we could bring you back again,
For one more hour or day,
We'd express all our unspoken love;
We'd have countless things to say.

If we could bring you back again,
We'd say we treasured you,
And that your presence in our lives
Meant more than we ever knew.

If we could bring you back again,
To tell you what we should,
You'd know how much we miss you now,
And if we could, we would. Love always your Uncle Shane
