Les enjoyed laughing and loved making others laugh with him. His family and friends meant everything to him.
Les was born in New London on July 7, 1940 to George and Florence Green Main who predeceased him. Les graduated from New London High School in 1958 and loved his home town and the waters surrounding it. Les was an avid fisherman, woodworker, gardener, cook and all-round handyman.
He leaves his loving wife, Rosie; brother, George Main Jr., of Waterford; brother-in-law, Donald Johnson, of Venice, Fla.; sons, Brian Main, of Vonita Springs, Fla., and Brian Goldin, of Norwich; daughters, Michelle Main, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Carol McMillan, of Haskell, Okkla., and Sandy Quillian and her husband, Mac, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Matthew Goldin, and Charles and Chirley Quillian; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Les was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ellen Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 239 West Main Street, Norwich, CT on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005 at 3 p.m. followed by burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich. A reception will be held following burial at the church. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to First Baptist Church or to the Groton Elks Club, Groton.
