Linda Whitlock Obituary

Arlington, Va. - Linda Bolté Whitlock died peacefully in her sleep on Monday morning, March 13, 2017. She was at home in Arlington, Va. She was 93 years old, one month shy of her 94th birthday.

Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she lived the majority of her life in Connecticut, first in Greenwich, then in Waterford. She taught high school English, occasionally Latin and Greek as well, for 33 years. In 1985, she was awarded Master Teacher in recognition of special dedication to The Williams School, New London, and to the teaching profession. She also served as chairman of the English department and retired as dean of the faculty in 1988. Linda B. Whitlock's energy and commitment to students, colleagues and school stand as a unique testimony to the highest qualities of the profession. Tangible measures do not begin to indicate either the magnitude of her contributions or the depth of our gratitude.

A graduate of Wellesley College, 1945, she joined the Red Cross immediately after graduation and served in Okinawa. She began her teaching career at the Greenwich Academy, then taught at Wilbraham Academy and ultimately at The Williams School.

She is survived by three daughters, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
