Mary Eberle

1938 - 2021

Niantic - Mary (Igoe) Eberle, 83, longtime resident of Niantic, passed away Sept. 25, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late John F. Igoe and Margaret Igoe.

She was the loving mother of John Eberle and his wife Robin Soule of Niantic, Michael Eberle and his partner Mary McDonagh of Boston, Mass., Kathy Giroux and her husband David Giroux of Guilford and daughter-in-law Kathy Eberle of Florida. She was predeceased by her son Rick Eberle and daughter Susanne, as well as her beloved sister Margaret. She is survived by her brother John Igoe.

She is also survived by her granddaughters, Melissa Giroux and Sara Giroux, Kate Eberle, Kelly Soule Eberle, and Lauryn Eberle; and grandson Mike Richards; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Gwynedd Mercy High School and University and Eastern Connecticut State University, where she obtained her master's degree.

Mary was an exceptional person; humble and selfless who never truly knew the positive impact she had on people's lives. Her whole life was her family and she loved spending time with her grandchildren, who adored her in return. Her favorite pastimes were watching the Boston Red Sox and taking long walks on the Niantic boardwalk. She was a long-time communicant at St. Agnes Church where she was deeply involved in various ministries.

Arrangements are in the care of Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at Saint Agnes Church in Niantic (masks are preferred), with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be private.
