To Joan and the Cannemela Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Michael's untimely passing. As part of a long line of Waterford educators, I shared our collective good fortune knowing and working with Mike as a part of Waterford's educational family -- and also much later as an RTM colleague.
My years in Waterford were both enriched, and frequently enlivened, through interactions with Mike as a faculty member -- and especially in dozens of meetings involving his leadership in the Waterford Federation of Classroom Teachers. He always said what he believed and believed what he said -- but also always respectful of varied views and opinions.
Michael Cannemela exemplified the best in teachers as reflected in the many letters of condolences from former students whose lives he enriched at Clark Lane. He was a good friend to many, a devoted husband and father, and, along with decades of his educational colleagues, contributed immensely to the lives of those he taught and guided.
We will all miss him tremendously.

Mike was one of my first mentors. I can remember sitting in the portables in both English and Language Arts as if it was yesterday. Mr. C. was a true inspiration to me. If I can encourage students 1/2 as well as he did I will feel as if I have accomplished a great deal. My deepest sympathies to the family for your loss but we are all better people for knowing Mike.

Last week I was thinking about how I should send a thank you note to the best teacher I've ever had. It happens at least once a year. I'm so sorry I missed the opportunity. Mr Mike (as I now think of him) took us 8th graders seriously. The Waterford learning community has lost an incredible role model

Cannamela family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Mr. Cannamela. As a teacher and a person, he taught me so much; not only how to be a good student, but also how to be a good person. I will never forget our Friday morning breakfasts when I was in middle school or his humor. He was an inspiration and will continue to live on in so many people. May your memories of him help to comfort your heart through this difficult time.

Mrs. Cannamela, Katie, Gabrielle and family; As with so many, I was shocked and saddened at the news of Mr. Cannamela's passing. He was such a wonderful gentleman and I consider myself so privileged to have had him as a teacher at Clark Lane. Mr āCā definitely was the personification of what a teacher should be. May the many accolades that you read about him during this time be some sort of comfort. Many prayers to you all.

To the Cannamela family. I am so sorry to hear of Mikes passing. I have only known him for the last 2 years through habitat for humanity, but the two years were enough to show me how caring and determined he was. I appreciate all the work he did on my home. And I am glad I had the chance to meet someone who puts others first and gave up his free time to help people make their homes.

Dear Joan and the Cannamela Family, We were devastated to learn of Mike's passing. He was a truly valued member of our community, a stand-out teacher and friend. His work will remain for the benefit of generations to come, and he will be missed every day.

Joan and family,
Mr. Cannamela was for so many students the most influential and significant teacher in their lives. His words and actions could motivate students who seemed unreachable, and for that his legacy will be unmeasurable. It is always those who are so uniquely kind and giving that are taken too soon. Our hearts are with you.

Looking back, I had only a handful of great teachers. Mike was the first great teacher I ever had. He was the benchmark by which all others would be judged. He taught me to think freely, taught me to take risks and taught me how awesome Pilot G2 pens are.
Mike was also a great person, always willing to say more than hello, regardless of his schedule. I'll miss running into him around town or at the boat launch where I always offered to let him cut me in line. It was an offer he always refused.
