I have lots of memories of Michael from when we were kids who lived around the corner from each other in Groton in the late '60's and early '70's. I could literally write a book about the many, many activities we shared (including the mischievous ones!) during a very different, simpler time. I remember Michael's parents. I remember Matthew, who shared many of our activities as well.. Mr. Chiappone was in the MDA and worked the Boards at Electric Boat for years. Mrs. Chiappone was a good wife and Mom who cared deeply for her family. They were good, honest, hardworking people. I was surprised and sorry to hear about Michael's passing; it had been a very long time since we connected; yet our times together are nearly as vivid now as they were back in the day. I regret that I did not get a chance to attend his services. My deepest condolences to his family. Michael was one of the Good Guys.

Mike, I will miss you. The times at the lake with your Mom&Dad, seeing who could flip each other off the raft and be king of the hill. the the time we went fishing off Waterford beach and almost losing the boat when we got snagged on a lobster-pot line, driving in your '70 Torino with the 429SCJ, all those times were great. I don't think I ever laughed so much. God Bless you Mike and your whole family. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I lived across the street from the Chiappones only until I was four years old, but our families remained lifelong friends. I always had a soft spot in my heart for Michael, Matthew and their parents, who were great people. I wish you peace, Michael. ❤
