Mr. Bogue was born in Voluntown on Oct. 31, 1919. He was the son of the late Fred and Mary (Potter) Bogue. Nathan, lovingly known as "Pop", spent most of his childhood growing up on "Bogue's Alley" in Mystic. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, a good game of golf and his secret mushroom hunting spots. He was a proud member of the US Army serving in the European Theatre in the 90th Chemical Mortar Battalion. Nathan was a lifelong member of the German Club and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, both of Mystic. He loved golfing as a member of the Pequot Golf Club and was a member of St. Pius X Church of Westerly.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Letitia F. (Pellegrino) Bogue of Westerly, his son, Frederick J. Bogue, husband of Jennifer of Pawcatuck, his daughter, Mary Ella DuBreuil of Riverside, R.I.; four grandchildren, Erika Dugas, Emily Dugas, Meredith Brady, wife of Brehan and Rachel Bogue; three great-grandchildren, Aiden Dugas, Eamonn Brady and Gates Brady; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Ernest, Frederick and James.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Funeral services are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship St., Westerly.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nathan's name can be made to the Hospice Care of Rhode Island, South County Office, 143 Main St., Wakefield, RI 02879 of St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly, RI 02891.
