Patricia Greenleaf Obituary

Stonington - Patricia Ann "Pat" Greenleaf died peacefully Nov. 8, 2023, in the company of her family at Norwalk Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. July 15, 1947, to Edward P. Fahy and Constance Crocker Fahy. She is survived by her loving son Peter S. Greenleaf of Potomic, Md.; and her two grandchildren, Sienna Greenleaf and Graedon Greenleaf. She was pre-deceased by her son James A. Greenleaf Jr.; and her husband James A. Greenleaf Sr. Pat is also survived by her brother Peter Fahy of Bluffton, S.C.; her sister Barbara Fahy Hayslip of Shelton; her sister Ann Fahy Scozzafava of Wilton; and her sisters-in-law, Gail Greenleaf Long and Karla Greenleaf Marcille both of New London; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pat grew up in Flushing, N.Y., but moved to the New London area in 1967, where she spent most of her adult life. She attended Mitchell College and earned her BA in nursing and a master's degree from St. Joseph's College. She was a nurse and nurse manager at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and then worked at Pfizer as a clinical trial manager.

After retirement, Pat and Jim moved to Vero Beach, Fla., and after Jim's passing, she moved to Stonington Borough. For the past year, Pat has been a resident at Meadow Ridge in Redding.

Everyone who knew Pat loved her as one of the most caring, giving persons you would ever meet. This is what made her such a wonderful nurse, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by so many people.

A memorial service will be planned for later this year in New London. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Pat's name to the James A. Greenleaf Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund at www.jamesgreenleaf.org.

Always enjoyed our time with the group in Niantic. Pat was one of the special ones along with Roger Arnold and the rest of the gang.

Every year I try to touch base with Pat on 9/11. This year I was surprised and truly saddened to discover that she had passed away. Pat, Connie, Ann, Roger Arnold and I enjoyed many a nice summer in Niantic. Getting older is not easy but saying goodbye to all those who blessed your lif is really hard, RIP Pat.

I remember Pat as my supervisor at L&M. She was always a compassionate nurse and overall great boss. It was she who encouraged me to pursue my advanced practice degree and worked my schedule to that end. Sorry to hear she passes.

Dear Peter,
Your Mom was one of my very special colleagues and friend during her time as nurse and nurse manager at L+M. Pat, Karen Gaul and I spent many lunch times laughing and sharing stories about our families. She was an awesome nurse and always gave her patients and families the best care anyone could ever expect.

May you be comforted knowing that others share your loss.

With sincere condolences,
Verna (Burrell) Swann
