Patricia McBeth Obituary

Old Lyme - It is with great sadness we must let her family and friends know that Patricia "Pat" Operhall McBeth, who resided in Old Lyme, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021. Pat passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She struggled with complications from COVID-19, and ultimately God decided that he needs her in Heaven where she is freed from her earthly discomforts.

Pat is survived by her husband, Robert Blair McBeth Jr.; her two daughters, Sarah McBeth Henderson (husband Brian) and Caitlin McBeth Griswold (husband Ryan); her sister Judith Schaaf; and five adoring grandchildren. Pat was predeceased by her parents Theodore and Joan Operhall.

Pat was born in Detroit, Mich. April 29, 1951, where she fostered a love for music that she pursued at Interlochen Arts Academy. She continued her education at the University of Arizona where she graduated with a master's degree in special education and a Bachelor of Arts. She spent her career as a tender, caring special education teacher in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Pat and her husband Blair were happily married nearly 45 years and enjoyed a life together full of love and family. They resided in Wilton where they raised their daughters and more recently, retired in Old Lyme. Above all Pat loved being a mother and a wife. She was an outstanding cook, the most kind and generous friend and truly a beautiful person inside and out.

Pat is without a doubt one of the finest human beings any of us have ever had the privilege of knowing. She had that special ability to touch the lives of everyone she knew. Her family members were blessed to feel her unconditional love, caring and thoughtful insights every day of their lives. She was a special person in life and now is our special Angel in spirit. She may be gone physically, but her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone that was blessed to know her.

A celebration of Pat's extraordinary life will be planned for later this year, when it is safe for people to gather again. In remembrance of Pat's life, our family asks that any charitable donations be made to Feeding America (feedingamerica.org) through the site's Giving in Memory page. Feeding America reflects Pat's kind, thoughtful and generous nature.

May she rest in peace.
