Raymond Hester Obituary

Waterford - Raymond Conrad Hester II, 66, of Quaker Hill, entered eternal life on Nov. 18, 2010, at his home in the comfort of his loving family.

He was born July 22, 1944, in New London, the son of the late Raymond C. and Martha (Nickerson) Hester Sr. Ray attended local schools and graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees serving in Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to the former Lorraine Potter on Dec. 9, 1968, in Danielson; Mrs. Hester survives him.

He was formerly employed in engineering at Electric Boat and later owner and operated Raiders Roost on Shaw St. before his illness. He was a member of the Quaker Hill Baptist Church and was a life member of the Quaker Hill Fire Dept.

Besides his beloved wife of 41 years, he is survived by two sons, Scott J. and Daniel K. Hester, both of Quaker Hill; a daughter, Jennifer Smith of Niantic; and a brother, Eugene Hester of Deep River.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Quaker Hill Baptist Church, 144 Old Norwich Road, Quaker Hill. Interment with military honors will be in Union Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Quaker Hill Fire Dept., 17 Old Norwich Road, Quaker Hill CT 06375.

The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Ray. I have many fond memories, as a child, of the parties at your house. I will let my parents (June and Bruce Johnson) know about the sad news. Unfortunately they are out of the country and will not be able to make the services. God Bless. -Craig Johnson
