Renee Shell Obituary
She was born on April 11, 1950 in New London, and passed on March 23, 2014 in Norfolk,Va. She leaves many good friends and family members in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta and other parts of the United States.
She attended school at Robert E. Fitch Senor High School, Groton, where she was in the National Honor Society and became a strong group leader. As a child, she attended the Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church and later attended the Pleasant Street Baptist Indian Church, Westerly.
She worked in New York City at the Rob Roy Company as the first woman wholesales person for many years, then came back to Connecticut to work at Foxwoods Resort and Casino as a general manager of the retail department for many years. She then worked as a manager of the Groton Dollar Store. She moved to Norfolk, Va. to work for a storage facility as the manager until her passing.
She was the daughter of Margaret (Goode) Sebastian of New York and Calvin Sebastian of North Stonington, they had resided in Groton. She leaves behind a sister, Victoria (Sebastian) Smith of New London; and a brother, Calvin Sebastian of Groton. She also has five children, sons, Darryl Sebastian and Daryl Mullen, both of Groton, and three daughters, Daniella Sebastian of Washington, D.C., Desiree Sebastian of Middletown and Teri Mullen of Groton; and leaves four grandsons and three granddaughters, who will miss her dearly.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly.

Our sympathy and prayers are with Renee's family. One of my fondest childhood memories is ballet class with Renee when we were very small. I still have photos of us then and will always cherish those memories. She had a great spirit.

As a long life resident of Groton my families was known, we knew many peoples and many peoples knew us all but when you know the Sebastin Families you know Renee, many more of them what a good family to know, her passing of living in the old Groton we all knew is empty. GOD BLESS her, our pray go out to the families rest in peace.
