Robert Pirie Obituary

Fort Myers, Fla. - Robert Pirie passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at the age of 90, in Fort Myers, Fla., where he had recently moved. Born Sept. 5, 1934, in Norwich, Robert lived in his hometown for nearly his entire life before relocating last summer. He was the beloved son of the late Andrew and Dorothy Pirie; and the brother of the late Arthur Pirie and Donald Pirie. He is survived by his siblings, Priscilla (Baldyga) Pirie and Thomas Pirie; and by his devoted wife, Palma (DiFrancesca) Pirie, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.

Raised in Norwich, Robert graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1952. He married his high school sweetheart, Palma, in 1955, and together they raised three children, Robert Pirie Jr., who passed away in 2014, David Pirie and Francesca (Kortfelt) Pirie. In addition to his children, Robert is survived by six grandchildren: Julie, Jonathan and Katelyn Pirie, children of Robert Jr. and Pauline Pirie; Christopher and Sarah Pirie, children of David and Donna Pirie; and Grant Kortfelt, son of Francesca and Andrew Kortfelt. He was also a proud great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren; and an uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Grandpa:
He was an amazing strong man! Fun Grandpa
From taking us to baseball games
Hanging out at the beach
Taking us up to watch the Patriots Practice
Always going into his coin jar next to his chair & handing us a few coins.
Playing in the leaves or just going to Mohegan Park
Driving in his truck
Seeing the beautiful roses he grew in his yard.
It was always an amazing fun time to be around Grandpa. The Funny times at there house to all the way up in Vermont he always made sure we had a good time. He showed us how to be funny & how to work hard & love our family. I'll never forget the 1 & only time I seen Grandpa get upset. We were down at the beach playing in the sand. & being young Siblings were fighting. Grandpa came all the way down to the beach to tell me DON'T THROW SAND AT YOUR BROTHER! lol :) I knew not to ever make him upset again. I'll miss everything about you Grandpa. I will cherish the great times we had watching the Navigators play. Thank you for being such an amazing man. Thank you for being such an amazing father & a wonderful husband to Grandma.
You are definitely one of a kind & I will miss you so much.
Give Dad a huge hug for me. We Love You Gramps!! <3 MISS YOU!
