Sally Jeffers Obituary

Sally McCaughey Jeffers

Sally McCaughey Jeffers, 78, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno on March 23, 2013. She was born in Oakland, CA. in 1934 and moved to Reno in 1945 with her parents, Hamilton and Roberta McCaughey. She attended Mt. Rose Elementary School, Billinghurst Junior High School, Anna Head School in Berkeley, CA and Reno High School. She married Jim Jeffers in 1953 and had two children: Judith and Michael Jeffers. She worked 23 years at the Washoe County Library, retiring in 1994. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In her last years, she especially cherished a loving relationship with her youngest 2 grandchildren, Austin Yount and Hunter Jeffers. Sally loved to read, travel, and enjoyed many trips to Europe and Hawaii. She treasured her time at Zephyr Point on Lake Tahoe for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tim McCaughey of Arcata, CA. and niece Katherine McCaughey of Arcata.

She is survived by her children Judy Yount (Mike) of Reno, Michael Jeffers (Heidi) of Sparks, and sister Susan Stone (Garry) of Gardnerville; her loving grandchildren, Eric Yount (Mackenzie), Ian Yount (Teree), Austin Yount, Jasmine Wilson (Malcolm), and Hunter Jeffers; great grandchildren Colton and Brycelin Yount, Maisie and Sophie Barnes; two aunts, Pat and Nancy of Davis, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was truly loved and cherished by all of her family and was a faithful friend to those close to her.

At her request, there will be no service. Donations may be made in her honor to Friends of Washoe County Library, P.O. Box 7103, Reno, NV 89510.
