Sarah D. Beaudin

East Lyme - Sarah D. Beaudin, 83, a resident of Niantic, died Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bridgeport, Sarah was the daughter of the late James and Helen Beaudin. Having grown up in the town of Fairfield, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Fairfield Ludlowe High School, Class of 1959. She was a 1963 Western Connecticut State University graduate, and received a master's degree from Connecticut College.

Sarah taught in the Stonington and New London School systems until her retirement in 2005, and continued substitute teaching for many years after. Prior to teaching, Sarah owned and operated The Yarn Basket where she gave knitting lessons and sold a variety of yarns and products.

She is remembered for her handmade Christmas stockings, which her family cherish to this day! Sarah was a devoted member of the Catholic Church where she found great comfort and joy in her faith. She also enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, and taking daily walks around the Crescent Beach area in Niantic.

Sarah is survived by her longtime companion, Allan Caffyn; as well as her four children: Kathleen Cravinho (daughters, Allyson and Jessica), Craig Cravinho and his wife Lynn (daughters, Elizabeth and Megan), Stephen Cravinho and his wife Emilie (daughters, Julia and Caroline), and John Cravinho and his wife Jennifer (daughter, Abigail and son, Jack). Sarah is also survived by her brother, James Beaudin and his wife Linda (son, Christian).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 22 Haigh Avenue in Niantic. Burial will follow the Mass at East Lyme Cemetery. Please visit www.neilanfuneralhome.com to leave the family an online condolence.
