Thomas Grudier Obituary

Montville - Thomas H. Grudier II, 68, of Uncasville, died on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Cambridge, Ohio, on Nov. 2, 1947, to the late Thomas and Mary (Michael) Grudier Sr. After high school, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving until his honorable discharge. One of his duty stations brought Tom to Groton. That assignment would change his life most profoundly as that is where he met and married his true love, Geraldine "Jeri" (McLarty). She sadly predeceased him.

Tom worked as an engineer after his military service as a civilian employee for the Navy. He enjoyed watching his Red Sox, Patriots and UConn basketball. After the passing of his beloved Jeri, he found a second family at the American Legion Post 112 in Uncasville. He loved his family and grandchildren very much but the loss of his beloved Jeri was too much for his spirit.

He is survived by his son, Thomas H Grudier III and his wife, Eileen; his daughter, Cheryl Grudier; a brother, David Grudier; grandchildren, Haley, Jarret, Travis, Avery, Zoey, Thomas IV, and Ozzy; along with several nieces, nephews and his second family at the American Legion.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tnpk., Uncasville, followed by interment with military honors at Comstock Cemetery, Depot Road, Uncasville.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 112, 303 Maple Ave., Uncasville, CT 06382.

T, Cheryl and the entire Grudier family....Aunt Eileen and I extend our heartfelt condolences and regret that we can not be there for you during the funeral and burial of your dad. We understand that the American Legion will be hosting the reception following his burial like they did for Jeri. We wish we could be there to make a toast to one of the four original horseman ( brother-in-laws), Tom, Moose, Gary & Steve. We all could share some great stories of how we worked our way into the McLarty Clan. Lots of laughs, lots of good times, and lots and lots of drinking of beer together with your dad and grandpa. W.O.W. it goes by sooooo fast! We just want you guys to know how much we love you and can't wait to see everyone when we return home for a visit. Your dad is with Jeri now and will be laid to rest beside her as it should be! Be at peace Brother-In-Law Tom and know that we have always loved you. Uncle Gary & Aunt Eileen xx oo xx

Tom, Eileen, and family, Cheryl Dawn and family and the entire family members from the Grudier's and McClarty's, my thoughts and prayers are with you all, along with my sincere condolences. So sorry for the loss of Mr. Grudier , which
many called him, I have know him since I was fourteen years old, so needless
to say we spent many fun times at family gatherings , long before his two children were born.We had both work with submarines, so we would talk about that all of the time. I must say that I am so thankful for my relationship that I have with his and Jerry's amazing children, which I love dearly and my heart knows what they are going through with the loss of their Dad, So T-bone and Cheryl , Dad is with mom, he embraced her and they are together once again. No more pain and suffering and his spirit will live on within each of us who knew him and loved him, May he RIP, Love you all, Tom Scarratt
