Van Nguyen Obituary
Groton - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Van T. Nguyen Dec. 19, 2024. Van, a resident of Groton, was born May 16, 1953, in Quang Nam, Vietnam.
Van became a U.S. citizen in 1987. In 1991, she received her high school diploma from New London Adult Education and was the Valedictorian. In 1997, she received an associate's degree in science general studies and a certificate in library technology. Van was employed at the Mitchell College library in New London, Three Rivers Community College library in Norwich, Flanders Elementary School in East Lyme, and the Mashantucket Pequot Museum library in Ledyard. Van always strongly emphasized the importance of learning and education to everyone, and it created her path and career working in the library as a librarian for many years.
Van was predeceased by her husband Hoi Van Tran. She is survived by her son Anthony Tran; his partner Jessica Ziegler; daughter Nancy Phan; and four grandchildren, Saiya Ziegler-Tran, Zennyn Ziegler-Tran, Jagger Kretzer and Giovanni Soto.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at the Thrive55+ Active Living Center (formerly known as Groton Senior Center) in Groton. If inclement weather, the alternative date is Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at the same time and place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please donate to the Thrive55+ Active Living Center (formerly known as Groton Senior Center) at 102 Newton Road, Groton, CT 06340 in Van's name.

My deepest condolences. I have so many memories stopping by the home/s when Nancy and I were younger and having chats or always smelling something good cooking :). Strength and love was always present. Prayers for continued strength and love during this transition onto a new journey.
