Daniel Cane Obituary

Daniel Cane

Daniel Cane, 83, passed away Nov. 20, 2014, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Newark, New Jersey, raised in the Bronx, he moved to California in 1966. A successful copywriter, Dan wrote direct mail copy for a variety of nonprofits. He met his partner, Dick Hammond, in the '60s. They spent 25 years together until Dick's passing in 1989. Dan was a lover of music, theater, animals and good-looking men. He knew every show tune, was a connoisseur of the pun and a great joke teller. He was known for his gentle spirit and patient nature. As an investor in the Tropicale, Dan enjoyed the camaraderie of his restaurant "family" and friends. A celebration of life will be held at the The Saguaro Hotel, 1800 E. Palm Canyon Drive, in Palm Springs on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. All who loved Dan are welcome.
