Eleanor Montoya Obituary
October 25, 1932 - June 23, 2016
Eleanor Alice Montoya was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2016. Eleanor was born on October 25, 1932 in Los Alamitos, CA to Frank & Agnes Mendoza, who were one of the first pioneer Hispanic families in Palm Springs, CA. Eleanor was raised in Palm Springs, CA and graduated from Palm Springs High School in 1950. She married Natividad Montoya and had two children Reggie Montoya and Alisa Montoya. Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Natividad and her daughter Alisa Montoya. She is survived by her son Reggie Montoya, daughter in law Brenda Garcia and her 3 siblings Donald Mendoza, Alma Ramirez and Sylvia Gonzalez. Eleanor will be remembered by her love of Shirley Temple, puzzles and the San Diego Chargers.
She was loved and adored by her family land sea of friends. Her contagious smile and laugh will be missed but never forgotten. Services will be held on Friday July 1, 2016 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Many will remember Eleanor for her work on the "...The History & Contributions of the Original Mexican Families to the Palm Springs Village. The Mendoza History and photographs were included in the document as she provided.

Deeply saddened for our families long time friend. Eleanor you'll truly be missed but never forgotten, you've always had love and kind words for us, it was always a joy to be in your presence. My condolences to the Montoya family. I will always remember Eleanor and truly felt blessed being able to help with her care as a volunteer with DCC each Monday. May she rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
