Jean Donaldson

Jean Donaldson, 82, passed away Monday, March 9 in Highland, CA, after a long illness. She was born March 13, 1932, in West Windsor, VT, to Ambrose H. and Faith (Sanborn) Donaldson. She served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954, earned a Bachelor's Degree from Westmont College, Santa Barbara, CA, a Master's Degree from Hartford Seminary, Hartford, CN, and was a professor in linguistics at Southern Illinois University. Jean served with the Summer Institute of Linguistics for 35 years, first doing translation work with the Tai people of Vietnam, and later with Vietnamese refugees in the United States. Jean donated her entire life to the church and caring for others. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Donaldson, formerly of Austin, TX. She is survived by brother Hugh Donaldson of Palm Springs, CA, sisters Charlotte Hart of South Burlington, VT, Faith Eldredge of Stratham, NH, Rose Cox of Palm Desert, CA, brother-in-law Leroy Cox, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Rose Mortuary.
