Joe will surly be missed. I took skating lessons from Joe at the Redwood Roller Rink along with Betty Jennings. Joe really knew the technical aspects of artistic dance. Joe was really the MAN of roller skating. I will miss him as will many of his other skating students of the late 50's and early 60's my prayers to his family. Joe, you were the GREATEST..

We were all very fortunate to know Joe. His direct and indirect influence on our lives was enormous. I will always treasure the guidance and wisdom he shared with me. There will be no one ever quite like you again, Joe. Til' we meet again.

I never skated for Joe but my husband Les and I had the pleasure of working for Joe and Bettie (his right hand lady) for 12 years preparing the Gold Skate program and got to see the business man side and the man who loved his golf and we had many laughs on the course. What an honor to have been his friend and when I was discouraged in my skating ability, a pep-talk from Joe was what I needed and got!! Goodbye until we meet once again.

An industry titan has been laid to rest. His influence and stature were unequaled. From my father's tales of his Southgate Seattle adventures to his occasional paternalistic advice on my own business decades later, Joe will always command a corner of my heart for the respected. Oftentimes I am astounded for Joe's groundwork others following have capitalized and built upon. Truly an inspiration and role model for us all.

Joe Nazzaro is without question one of the true giants in the sport and business of American roller skating. His guidance and contributions were an example to us all as to what it means to give back support and service to a beloved sport and life's work.

Joe was such a kind and sweet man. Each year at Gold Skate I would go up and see him when he was announcing and he always greeted me with that amazing smile and a kiss on the check. Your voice will live on in the hearts of skaters for ever.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your obituary, Joe. I had no idea of the depth of your relation to skating and that you were a tech sergeant in the Army Air Corp. I only ever knew you as "the voice from Goldskate" in the many years I had the privilege to participate in. You were a kind and sweet soul, and thank you for all that you did for roller skating. Rest in peace, my friend.

I have fond memories of Joe that go back to my childhood years while skating at Redwood City; and recalling Joe being an instrumental part in my participation in that first Gold Skate Clasic in 1965. The skating community honors your contributions to our sport. Until we meet again Joe.
