Richard Weil Obituary

Richard L. Weil, 94, of Milwaukee and Palm Springs died Aug. 10, 2006, in Milwaukee of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 12, 1912, to Benjamin Weil Jr. and Louise Elson Weil in Milwaukee.

He married Lucille Rosenberg on May 2, 1934, in Milwaukee.

He was vice president and general manager of The Grand, owner of Millway Nursing Home and of Finance Systems of Wisconsin, and served in the Wisconsin National Guard from 1934 to 1941, attaining the rank of colonel.

He served on the boards of Seven Lakes Country Club and Brandeis University Club and was involved with many fraternal and community organizations, including Mental Health Association of Palm Springs, the Palm Springs Senior Center and Turnoff Inc. of Palm Desert.

He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Weil Wilder of McLean, Va.; a son, Thomas Weil of Rancho Mirage; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Weil, in 1996.

Services were held in White Fish Bay, Wis., with burial at Spring Hill Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Goodman Bensman Funeral Home in White Fish Bay is in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests that donations be made to a charity of choice.

Mr. Weil was kind and generous. He bought me a new uniform when I was an orderly at Millway in the 70s. And, more memorable was the time he gave me the keys to test drive his new corvette. I will never forget that drive!
