Robin Rosenberg Obituary

Robin Combs Rosenberg, 91, passed away October 19, 2010 in Victorville, Calif. She was born March 31, 1919 in Alhambra, Calif., and had been a resident of Palm Springs for 35 years. In her early years, Robin worked in the Hollywood Studios with many of the stars of Hollywood's Golden Age. One of the most memorable things she did was double as Betty Grable. Robin was a business woman, and worked with Gene Norman, a friend of hers for many years. Together they owned a nightclub, The Interlude, in Hollywood. She worked side by side for many years with Mr. Norman, promoting many of the jazz greats of the time throughout the United States. Later on, Robin married Fred Rosenberg and joined him on several restaurant ventures, one of which was the Marquis. Later, they moved to Palm Springs, and summered in Lake Arrowhead. In the 1970's, Robin and her husband built Barstow Station in Barstow, Calif., which is still thriving today. Surviving Robin are her sons, Billy Burk Rosenberg and his wife, Angela of Helendale, Calif., and Ben Rosenberg and his wife, Patricia of Barstow; grandchildren, Kristina Marie, Samantha Rae and Maximilian Fred; and her faithful dog, Sissy. In memory of Robin, please make donations to the Barstow Humane Society, 2480 East Main St., Barstow, CA 92311, or go to www.barstow humanesociety.org and click on Make a Donation. I think of Robin with such huge gratitude! I was introduced to her seated next to her at my next door neighbor's outdoor gorgeous Fest right after having moved to Palm Springs. Robin wasn't quite old enough to be my mom but close. She took me under her wing Soothe My sadness when my husband left me made me laugh and learn right next to the tears. A generous warm brilliant and Savvy human being! She didn't even know what an amazing female Trailblazer she was in business, in my opinion always presenting in such a very humble fashion. I miss you Robin I truly do. I also wish I had listened to some of the things she had to say in the end times last few years before she passed. She had such loving wisdom. Rest in peace dear beautiful friend.

Dear Billy, Benji, Judith and Julie: It would take a book to describe the amazing lady I got to call friend in the past decade. She never knew how far ahead of the times she was, as a woman in the business world, acted like it was absolutely nothing! As a fellow entrepreneur, I kept telling her how amazing and inspirational she was. Her sense of humor and generosity of spirit will forever remain in my memory. It was a privilege to have known her and she will be forever missed. With Love and Light, Nan (Nancy Laura Joseph), Palm Desert, CA
