Ruth Anderson Obituary

Ruth Ann Anderson, of Indio, CA, was born to William and Mary Mantooth Nesbitt, March 29, 1912, in Randlett, Okl. At age 96, on July 7, 2008, in Cherry Valley, in the loving care of daughter and granddaughter, Donna and Kathleen McCrary and close friend, Jeanette Squire, she was called home and went to be with her savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Ruth and her husband Vernon, came to Coachella Valley in 1937. They built their home just outside of a large date grove, today known as Sun Gold in Indio. Later built their restaurant, the Knotty Pine Cafe, on old Hwy 99, now Indio Blvd. The restaurant is still there today, a little Mexican cafe, with really good food. Ruth attended Trinity Baptist Church in Indio from its beginning in the old Veterans Center, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and helped in other areas as needed. In later years she attended La Quinta Christian Fellowship with Pastor Mark and Susan Collins. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Billie Rae Turner of Silex, MO, Donna Jean McCrary of Cherry Valley, and Nancy Gayle Procko of Rancho Mirage; sisters, Leona Lawrence of Indio and Evelyn Sullivan of Arkansas. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, of 40 years; son Dewey Anderson and grandchildren, David Trent Anderson, Rebecca Jane Padelford, Johnny and Larry McCrary, and Dana Rae Paul; sister Nancy Elizabeth Bruce and brother Joe Nesbitt. Ruth's legacy lives on in her 20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 83 great, great grandchildren, and 3 great, great, great grandchildren. The sum of her life in her own words, "The Old Rugged Cross made the difference." " No good-bye's, only until Son rise!" Graveside Service, for family and friends, will be Friday, July 11, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., Coachella Valley Cemetery with Pastor Mark Collins officiating.

As sad as it is that Grandma has passed it is also a blessing as she is no longer in pain. She is at last resting beside her beloved Vernon. Can you hear her now going "Now Vernon", I can. I will treasure my memories of her as I hope all of you do. Thank you for being my Grandma. Rest in peace Grandma. Tell Grandpa and Daddy I love them.
