A bright light faded November 11, 2016 as Vi Felix died peacefully in her sleep. lt's not surprising she passed in her sleep; she was known as a doer and a fighter who even in the last few months of her life repeatedly stated, "What are you going to do? Don't give up easily - You just keep trying!" Having had what she described as "not an easy" childhood, Vi created a full life and did so with passion, elegance, focus and, as all who knew and loved her, at times with stubbornness.

Vi is survived by loving family and friends, including her son Hal Stern, daughter Margie Stern Curtis, step children Jessica Felix and Richard Felix, brother-in-law Mel (& Katherine) Felix, companion Howard Glatt and god-daughter Donna Markus.

Born in Chicago January 9,1922, Vi and her mother moved to Los Angeles when she was twelve years old. California remained her home base where she lived near the ocean or the desert. Vi married Max Stern in 1940. ln 1952 she married Harold Felix, whom she had grown up with and adored; together they shared an adventurous life until his untimely death. They worked hard and played hard. They travelled the world, sailed (Vi was a certified navigator), played tennis, entertained friends & family and participated in their communities.

Vi believed strongly in helping and empowering others. She was instrumental in the development of Jewish Family Services of the Desert and respected and appreciated by the community for her service and efforts.

She was a magnificent woman of warmth, wisdom and wit. Vi enriched the lives of those she touched directly and indirectly and will be remembered with a smile almost as bright as hers...and with much love.

Memorial service will be scheduled in the near future.
