Much has been written here about Wilbur. It's ALL true! I still enjoy our conversation about movies and I'll ALWAYS remember "Tea and Sympathy." :-)

We will greatly miss Mr. Daniel. He introduced us to many of our new favorite children's books. He always made the children's eyes light up when he would read at the Thursday morning storytime. We will always remember those special times.

My deepest sympathy. Wilbur was an excellent librarian. He loved life, and cherished his friendships. We worked together for many years at the Oxnard Public Library. He will be greatly missed.

It was with great pleasure I worked with Wilbur for a number of years at the Oxnard Public Library. Wilbur lived his life with courage and a vivacious flair. He loved people, good food, theater and opera, and most of all met each day with a great sense of humor and compassion. He will be greatly missed!

The first time I met Wilbur, I had been invited over for one of his famous dinner parties. Little did I know then, that he was a gourmet chef who had prepared a sumptuous meal totally on my behalf. Knowing that my dietary needs were restrictive he made me my own special courses from soup to desert, while the others feasted on the many culinary delights he had prepared especially for them. That was the kind of sweet, caring, giving and considerate man he was. Giving of himself to please others in his home and in all the aspects of his life. After his fabulous dinner I was treated to a sampling from his extensive collection of liquors and I soon learned from each of his guests that when Wilbur called you friend, it was a life time commitment. And, when Wilbur treated you to his wry and witty sense of humor it was the high point of your day and of his day as well. I will dearly miss our phone conversations where he would share the humor he passed along to all those lucky people who contacted him at the library for help. A lady phone caller asking: "Do you have (a copy of) 'Tea & Sympathy?'" To which Wilbur (who had been waiting in gleeful anticipation for just such an inquiry) replied... "Madame, of course. I will have a steeping pot of Earl Grey and my strong shoulder for you to cry on waiting for you when you arrive!" Wilbur you shall be missed!!!

We miss your dry wit, sense of humor, story telling, cooking, parties and most of all YOU. You were one of the first persons we met on arriving in the desert and you introduced us to so may things. Thank you again for all the trips you took us on to the LA area. God speed you on your way on that last great trip you have made. Bob, Lonnie, and Charles

WLIBUR WAS TRULY ONE OF THE GREATEST GUYS I HAVE EVER MET. SUCH A KIND AND CARING PERSON AND WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY HIS MANY FRIENDS. I LOOKED FORWARD TO SEEING WILBUR EACH YEAR THAT I VISITED IN PALM SPRINGS AND HE WOULD USUALLY HAVE ME OVER FOR ONE OF HIS GREAT MEALS.

Wilbur would not want a big fuss over him, living or deceased. Nevertheless, he was and is a strong, loving presence in our lives. We shared many of his loves (of movies) and many of his skepticism (of politicians). He lives in our lives and in the lives of all the children in us...as well as the adults!

A great man who loved to educate everyone he met. Introduced me to the ballet with the male version of Swan Lake-breathtaking! Dragged me kicking and screaming into opera, and I loved La Boheme. We're going to miss you, Wilbur.

Wilbur was a great help in the early start-up days of our church, Bloom in the Desert Ministries in Palm Springs. His wisdom and advice were always welcome and helpful. His maturity and sprituality rubbed off on us in many good ways. We will always be so thankful for that. Rev Kev and Mike
