William Heyler Obituary

William Ervin Heyler

William Ervin Heyler died July 8, 2016, at the age of 88, at his home in Palm Desert. He had lived there for many years following his retirement from Dart Industries, where he had worked in the office of Justin Dart. He also participated in organizing support for the election of Ronald Reagan to both the governorship of California and to the U S. Presidency.

In retirement, he traveled extensively and was an active philanthropic supporter of various arts and medical research organizations. He was a graduate of Occidental College, and was also a founding member of Ironwood Country Club.

He is survived by his brother Grover Heyler, his sister Margaret Clay, 5 nieces and nephews and 11 grand-nieces and grand-nephews, to all of whom he bore great affection. He was well known and loved for his kindness, respect and exceptional generosity to everyone he encountered.

No services will be held; however donations to the Eisenhower Medical Center, 39000 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270 would be appreciated by the family.

Happy Birthday Bill

Today I tried to call you and found your phone disconnected... then unfortunately discovered you had moved on. My father, Ernst Rott who preceded you by 24 days in birth and @ 6yrs in passing loved you dearly as one of his closest friends. I inherited some of that friendship and already miss you dearly. My family loved you and I pray that you are happy and at peace. Greetings to your family. I will continue to think of you and miss you on the 26th of April... Hardy

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Biil Heyler. I have know Bill since my working days at Dart Industries in 1968. He was always such an up beat individual, hard working, very passionate and active in the community. When I was going through a divorce in 1969 he made arrangements for me to take one of the Dart Lear jets to Chicago with my young children(6,8,10). My wife and I had a dinner at our home in La Quinta and invited Bill and other friends of ours. We were able to renew old times together. later that year Bill invited us to dinner and a musical at the theater. Bill was just a wonderful individual and will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We were long time business and personal friends since 1968 when I first met Bill at Dart Industries. Bill was a very passionate individual, bright, hard worker and fun to be around socially. When I was going through a divorce in 1969 Bill made arrangements for me to take my three young children (6,8, 10) to Chicago in one of our Dart Lear Jets. My wife and I had dinner in our home with Bill and friends of ours in La Quinta. Bill also invited us to dinner and a musical at the theater. Bill will be missed by all of his friends.
