My name is Omar Zendejas, Mrs. Moreno was my las Palmitas elementary school teacher back in the early 2000s, I´m 22 now. I live near Las Palmitas and every time I drive by I think of her. From what I could remember she was, awesome. You have to really touch a kids heart in order for that kid to remember you constantly years later. In my case I still do to this day, February 12, 2024. I just drove by the school a couple minutes ago which is why I´m typing this, just letting her family know I´m one of those kids she taught and will never forget her.

I am thankful to have gotten to play ball with such a great and amazing person/athlete. She will forever remain in my heart.

Tano, Alice, TJ & Celeste

Even after a year it is difficult to understand that Yvette is gone and there no answer for the pain in our hearts. I know the pain that you feel is beyond anything else you will have to endure on this earth. I have visited this guest book many times over the last year hoping that it would disappear and that it was not true.

I remember when Yvette was just a baby and Alice had to go to work. Yvette was in the cab of your yellow truck and now the door was locked. Alice was in a panic and she called us. I went to your house and Yvette was sitting in her baby car seat just looking at us with her big brown eyes. We were able to unlock the door without breaking any windows and Yvette continued to look at us while we thanked God for helping us get the door unlocked. I remember Yvette being dressed in her Holly Hobb doll clothes and taking her photographs. I have memories for so many birthday parties, Christmas Days, Easters, trips to the Mecca mountains, her basket ball games her T-ball games, her softball games, her graduations, her gradations parties and so many memories, But still it seems like we had so little time with her.

Yvette is always going to remain a precious person in our hearts. From the day she was born she was everyone's precious angel and she grew to be more speical everyday. She was the "girl" in the the group of male cousins but she was just as strong and able as all the boys. She laughed and joked and all the boys knew she could beat them or outlast that in everything they did. Yvette would get her bike, her bat, her glove, her basketball or her ATV and say "come on lets go and just laugh.

I knew after Eric was born and when he was ready to be baptized that I wanted you both to be his Godparents. I could see what great parents you were to Yvette and I wanted the same for my son. I laugh when I see the photograph of Alice getting him dressed for his Baptism and Yvette sitting next to him already being the over-protective big cousin. Because she was always very over-protective of her famiy and friends.

I remember when she asked me to be her godmother for her comfirmation. I was so proud of her and quickly said yes. She told me I would have to attend one class and we both laughed when we learned it was really two classes because we use to joke about how many times I really needed to attend mass in one year.

I remember when she lived with be for two years while she attended Cal State San Benardino to get her Bachlor's Degree. She would arrive at my apartment on Monday and leave Friday afternoon to visit you guys in Indio. She always said, "Bye Nina I wll see you on Monday I have to go see my mom and dad.

She was so proud to be a teacher and she worked so hard. She would bring home candy and other funds raiser forms to help her students get what they needed to get a good education. She sold me so many candy bars I would give them back to her and tell her to give them to her students. She was so organized and everything had it's place.

I remember being with all our family at your home on that last Easter day. We were standing around the dining room table and explained to Celeste, Sally, Clarissa and Lydia why the cupcakes had to be in a certain order on the cupcake trees. We just laughed and laughed.

The next time I saw her I could not tell how much I loved her and how much I already missed her because her soul was already gone and she was with God.

I now see her beautiful smile everyday in the beautiful flowers, the butterflys who stop by my house and the brightest star in the sky. Even Mason will say, "Look Ana grandma it's Yvette visiting us" as he points to a butterfly in front of us that has come to say hi.

Yvette lives in my heart everyday and she will always remain there. May our family and our faith continue to help you today and always. I love you all and Yevette will "Forever be in our Hearts." Love you lots

Tano, Alice and family,

Yvette will be greatly missed by everyone is our family. We don’t always say this but “We Love you” and everyone in your family. I know words can’t help with the loss of Yvette but remember we are here for you. Family is extremely important every day in our lives especially when we lose someone we love.

Yvette was truly loved by our family, as she was the first niece on the Moreno’s side of the family. She was also the first granddaughter spending so much time with our son Greg as they grew up together being only six months apart in age. As they grew older they spend time together at parties, family gatherings and on vacations.

We especially enjoyed visiting for family gatherings, birthday parties and spending precious time with everyone in your family.

We will always keep Yvette in our memories. We truly believe that Yvette is up in Heaven. Yvette accomplished so much in her life and set an excellent example for all her cousins and family.

Yvette was a wonderful godmother to our grandson, Greg Luna Jr. He enjoyed spending so much time with her and he especially the most recent trip to North Carolina. Greg Jr. has so many memories of his Nina Yvette that I know he will cherish forever.

Our prayers and hearts go out to you and your family.

God Bless you,
Lydia & Juan Luna and family

IN APPRECIATION & GRADITUDE
* YVETTE BAUTISTA MORENO *

To Yvette’s and our wonderful loving family, friends, CVUSD, co-workers, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Forest Lawn and all who touched our hearts with your endless love, help and support during this Painful & Unbelievable loss of Our Beautiful Daughter;

Your warm & beautiful cards, flowers, memory gifts, prayers and loving words were so extremely special. Everyone made her Celebration & Remembrance of Life services from beginning to end so lovingly memorable. For those of you that didn’t know, Yvette loved butterflies and the colors blue & purple.

Las Palmitas Elementary School, Thank You for giving us even more wonderful memories of Yvette with your beautiful Ceremonial Dedication of the school’s softball field, named in her honor, “Moreno Field”; along with the planting of the Olive Tree in remembrance of her as an exceptional & dedicated teacher who was a great role model and had love for all the students and staff! It was known she was always extending an olive branch to help others. The plaque was just perfect! And it means so much, as it reads, “To the World you were just One, to Us, You were the World”, and to us, her family, she was our world. She wore a bracelet that said “Fund Education” because she was so passionate about education. She loved working & teaching children to do extremely well and never give up.

She cherished the saying, “2 Teach is 2 Change a Life 4 Ever.”

Tomás, Yvette’s last words about you to me were that she loved you and you made her incredibly happy. Your true love, devotion, kindness and caring for Yvette will live in our hearts forever; you will always be part of our family. We love you.

We want to share this personal information: Yvette passed away of a Massive Brain Hemorrhage due to a cerebral AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation -5cm.), which she had since birth. Diagnosed Jan. 14, 2009, when she had her first hemorrhage; embolization was performed on the AVM. After numerous doctors visits, Yvette decided to have Proton Radiation on April 14, 2009, hoping this would help and would leave her with no disabilities; she was in the process of making a decision to have brain surgery this summer to have the AVM removed, so that she could continue to live her life without any worries of what might happen. She had not complained of a headache or sickness the day before she passed. Her passing was unexpected & sudden; she did not suffer. Yvette lived her life to the fullest, with immense love and while always knowing of the risk that came to be. She truly was an exceptional & happy daughter and human being with a Beautiful Smile; we all were so very proud of her.

Yvette’s emergency ID bracelet read: “Live, Laugh & Love” and she always lived her life by this motto.

Thank you for loving our precious daughter.

In Loving Memory of our Beautiful Daughter

Yvette the day you were born we became the Proudest most Riches parents of all whom would be loved by you. Your love and wonderful memories will be cherished forever close to our hearts. We knew you loved us and loved being with us by always inviting us to join you in whatever you did.

How you loved your family; Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, always bragging and wanting everyone to know how special and lucky you were to have them in your life. You
were also their pride and joy whom they spoiled with love.

Mija you had so-so many wonderful friends and touched so many hearts. You were always wanting to please, help and handle what you could do for them, wishing only for their happiness, never asking anything in return.

Watching you play-ball filled our lives with excitement; you played hard and gave it your all.
Everyone would be amazed at how well you played always asking for your name and who you were with Pride and Joy we would raised our Heads and with a Big Smile and say she is our daughter.

We loved hearing you talk about all the funny things your students would say and do that would make you smile and laugh. You loved teaching with a passion to you Oasis and Las Palmitas schools were your second home, they were all so special to you.

Were so happy and blessed you came to visit us the day before you left for one more time, we got to see and hear your beautiful smile and laughter. You loved life and lived it to the fullest.

God needed a special beautiful Angel to be by his side and it became you. God chose April the most beautiful month in Spring, when the flowers are blooming and the butterflies are flying to be in his arms. We will know when we see a beautiful butterfly flying freely in the air that it’s you coming to Say Hi Dad!, Hi Mom!, I Loved You.

Mija, we know you are watching over us sending everyone you loved and who loved you to comfort us.

We miss you so-so much

Love you

To my beautiful sister:
Yvette I always looked up to you throughout our childhood and into adulthood. Everyone keeps calling me by your name and I am so proud to be the one to remind them of you. Today mom told me that she will see your face every day when she looks at me and I can’t express how much that fills my heart with joy and love. I know you are by my side and will continue to be with me with every step that I take. You were so amazing in everything that you did and I want to thank you for all that you did for me, you always wanted the best for me. I am going to miss going to your games and watching you play softball and all the incredible plays you would make. I’m going to miss hearing Jayla yell with pure enjoyment “Mommy, mommy my Nina’s here” every time you came through the front door. You were everything to her; she loves and misses her Nina. She will remember all the games you taught her and all the times she was blessed to have spent with you and she will forever have the nick name Jayla Blue. I was in a hurry to the hospital for class on Wednesday because I was going to be late and to top it off I was eating while driving; I felt something overcome me so I slowed down, stopped eating and turned up the radio, I know you were keeping me safe and got me there on time. I was sitting outside the other day and I saw a yellow butterfly then I saw it again through the window in the backyard and I know that it is you watching over me and bringing a smile to my face through this tough time. Yvette was many things to many people for me she was a sister, friend and a great role model for my daughter (her god daughter) Jayla. I will forever miss her. Yvette had a way of brightening your day when you saw her. She always went the extra mile to let you know that she was there. She did countless little things for me like having her students say “Good Morning Mr. Brown” when they saw me I will miss her and I know Jayla will always remember and miss her Nina Yvette too.
We will always Love you!

Yvette was an amazing, beautiful person. She was so smart and determined and was someone we could all look up to. I was lucky enough to be her cousin and to have shared such great memories with her. I will always remember the fun times all of us cousins had laughing and cracking jokes. Those memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. I wish I could have had more time with her, but the time that we did share together I will always cherish. I will hold them close to my heart and use them as comfort when I feel sorrow. We all miss her dearly, but I find comfort in knowing that I will have a wonderful angel such as her to be watching over me and all of the family. She touched so many people in her life and meant so much to many. She will never be forgotten and her memory will live on forever.

She will forever be in my heart,

It's hard to find the words to say "I'm sorry for the loss of your child", or aunt or cousin or sister or friend. Which was who she was to me. I am shocked and hurt to lose a friend who had so much more to offer and so much life to live. I remember her most at Van Buren where we were good friends and through Indio High School where we remained friends. I will miss her and I'm sorry that I missed an opportunity to say hello and goodbye. Be storng and know that she will never be forgotten.

Mr. & Mrs. Moreno,
My first memory of Yvette was back at Van Buren school. I remember she wore a red dress for picture day. I loved that dress. I wanted one just like it. :) She was always so kind. Unfortunately our lifes took us in different directions throughout our school years. From what I have read, Yvette was loved by many & continued to be an exceptional person with a heart of gold.
I am truly sorry for your immense loss. Please know that my family & I will pray for God to fortify you & help you endure this difficult time. It's times like these that remind me of God's comforting words at Isaiah 25:8 & Revelation 21:4. I encourage all to take a minute and read these promises in God's Holy Bible.
My heartfelt sympathy,

My cousin Yvette,

I never in my deepest thoughts imagined we would ever lose you. When sister told me I was in such disbelief, it couldn’t be true…not our Yvette! There are so many things that I wish I could of told you, but you left us so suddenly. You were my oldest cousin and I looked up to you, you were our role model. I remember growing up and always analyzing everything you did, the shoes you wore, the clothes you bought, and the glasses you would sport. I wanted to be like you and still work to be as accomplished and as respectful as you were. You were so naturally beautiful, athletic and had this presence about you when you walked into a room. You never needed or asked for the attention, but you always got it. I remember Easter Sunday being at Mom’s and watching Jerseylicious with you and sister and laughing at the girls because they were so off the wall. I was asking you 21 questions about your gym workout and why you worked out certain muscles and it was just because I was going to tweak my workout to yours. I… in so many ways wanted to be like you and hope I made you proud my cousin. I will cherish your memories, I was so proud to be your cousin. You made my parents so very happy because you shared their home with them. I knew you made them proud and they never felt lonely having you there. I want to thank you for making our house into a home and watching over Mom and Roy. My Cousin I wish I had more time with you, but I know God had different plans for you and I will now have to set my own bar. I adore you and admire you so much and will do my best to stay strong because I know you wouldn’t want us crying. I know you’ll give me the strength I need to keep pushing through life. You will forever be missed and never forgotten. Love you cuz!

Dear Tano, Nina Alice, Celeste, T.J. and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. It seems surreal to me that she has passed away. Although it has been many years since we were close, I will always consider Yvette one of my dearest childhood friends. Some of my best memories as a kid are ones when I was hanging out with Yvette. Her house was a second home for me and I loved spending time with her and your family. I will never forget the times I accompanied her to softball practice and games and the nights we spent playing Nintendo and laughing.

I wish we had re-connected over the years, but now I know I'll have to wait until I see her in heaven. I am so glad that I had a chance to know her and I am grateful for every day spent with her.

Yvette and the Moreno & Bautista families will always hold a special place in my heart. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you and give you strength through this most difficult time and always.

Rest in peace Yvette. You will be missed and remembered forever.

Tio & Tia, Tj & Celeste,

We will all miss Yvette.

When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. It will be the little things that you remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. Although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that help push away the pain and bring back the smiles again.

Yvette meant so much to us all. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was always there for her family and friends. I know she thought the world of you guys. You guys meant so much to her. I remember hearing her tell people how blessed she was to have the family she had. Her beautiful smile and laughter were almost as big as her heart.

Yvette loved to teach and be around children. Her nieces, nephew and god children meant the world to her. Every time she entered a room it filled with excitement and joy. People were always so happy to see her and get close to her. I was so proud to call her my cousin.

People tell me how much they valued Yvette's friendship. Yvette brought pleasure to everyone she met and will be sadly missed.

She may be gone, but will never be forgotten. May you take comfort in knowing an Angel is watching over you and your family. Yvette will always be missed, loved and in our thoughts and prayers.

Love,

To the Moreno Family,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Yvette. I am still in shock about her recent passing. You have my very deepest sympathy as I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Yvette was such a lovely person, so active and vibrant, which makes it even more difficult to comprehend. She and I spent an afternoon together about two years ago here in Los Angeles for a literacy training. I was so fascinated to hear of the wonderful things she was committed to, including her role as a literacy coach for CVUSD.

I'm so glad now that I had that time with her.

Personally, I have many fond memories of Yvette. In high school I enjoyed her friendship, charisma, and mostly her love for sports. (I remember 1986, when Yvette and I played for Yellow Cab while Tano, supported us as one of the softball coaches.)

Yvette was the model athlete, student, leader, and friend. I was so thrilled to hear of the work and impact she made of the lives of so many others, especially for the students in public education.

May the beautiful life of Yvette, fill your hearts with joy, love, and peace during this time of grief. God bless you and your family now and always.

In Deep Sorrow,

I was a classmate of Yvette's at IHS, and had not seen her since our high school graduation. Despite the time that has passed since I last saw Yvette, I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. My memories of Yvette are of a girl who was always in a jersey or sportswear, full of energy, and ALWAYS smiling. Yvette did touch many lives, mine included. To her family - My thoughts are with you through this very difficult loss.

Yvette leaves behind a legacy of love: a love of children, a love of life, a love of teaching, a love of sports, and a love of family and friends. She will be missed. May God bless her family with a peace that passes all understanding.

To Tano, my sister Alice, TJ (Lisa) & Celeste (Jonathan) and nieces Denise, Jayla & nephew TeeJah and Tomas Martinez, boyfriend.

During this excruciating time, we want you to know you are in our prayers. There are so many things I’d like to share about Yvette I don’t know where to begin. I know Yvette loved spending time with her family as well as her extended family, her friends and her co-workers at CVUSD and Las Palmitas. Alice & Tano know that she loved you and you are so blessed to have had such an exceptional loving and caring daughter. TJ & Celeste I know she loved you and she was very proud of you and she loved spending time with her nieces and nephew. I remember being in your home and when she would walk in your front door the kids would run to her and give her lot’s of hugs and kisses and she looked so happy. I know your hearts are aching with much pain that’s beyond belief always remember we are here for you. She is an angel and with the lord now and is joined by many of our family members in heaven. Tomas, you had a special place in her heart and I know you loved her and will treasure her special time with you and are truly blessed. Our Dearest Yvette we loved you dearly with all our hearts and souls. Roy and I saw you as our own daughter and were so very proud of you. We miss you terribly you will live in our hearts forever. Roy and I were so blessed to have had you live in our home and every time our front door opens I know we will be waiting for you to walk in. Our home will never be the same without you it seems so lonely. We have beautiful memories of you and will carry them through out our lives we will always remember your smile and laughter. Our children Ricky, Paul, Andrea & Yvonne Sanchez your cousins were also so very proud of you. Grandpa Luis Bautista Sr. & Grandma (Chuy) Mary Duran are in terrible pain they loved you immensely, we will take care of them they know you loved them wholeheartedly. You were a lot of things to many people and will be missed tremendously. Yvette had a great passion for teaching and sports and she excelled in all that she did and she loved going to the gym. She was an exceptional softball player and played softball with her Las Palmitas co-ed team at Field of Dreams where they won a championship. She was an avid Lakers, Raiders and Dodger fan and Roy and I could hear her cheering from her room when she would be watching her teams play on TV we felt so good knowing she was enjoying herself and having fun. She was passionate about teaching. I remember she always knew she wanted to be a teacher and after receiving her degree come back to the valley to teach our minority children where she would make a huge impact in all her students’ lives. Yvette we loved you and are missing you terribly it hurt’s so much I don’t know if this pain will ever leave our hearts. Knowing we will see you again in heaven is the only comfort we have right now. My sister Alice & Tano and family we love you.

Love your Tia & Tio
Vicky (Bautista) & Roy Lopez

To Yvette's family and friends, I met Yvette over 5 years ago while working for Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indian Reservation as a Guidance Counselor. During the summer months I oversee a summer program I created "The Best Me I Can Be." Yvette was a part of our team for 4 years. She would work with our 40 plus children, providing daily encouragement, academic assistance and what ever else it took to help our students.I had the pleasure and honor to work by her side during the summer months, share a cup of Starbucks and prepare for the day. Throughout the year we would meet when I needed support and encouragement for one of my Native Students. I was so looking forward to working with her once again in June 2010. My heart hurts, and I will remember her always. Thank you my friend for all the years of dedication and friendship to the children and staff of Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indian Reservation.
You will be missed greatly but trust you are are with our Lord, where we will meet again!
