Austin Farmer Obituary

Austin Farmer, 30, of College Station, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple. Services are set for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas

Catholic Church in College Station. Burial will follow at Mt. Cavalry Catholic Cemetery in Bryan, followed by a reception at the St. Thomas Aquinas dining hall. Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 23, from6-8 p.m. at Calloway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Austin will be forever and lovingly remembered for his compassion, empathy, and kindness toward others, along with his affection for corny jokes and lively sense of humor. He deeply impacted his medical team in Temple with his selflessness, courage, and faith, despite the pain and suffering he endured in his final weeks. Austin was a lifelong Christian, and the adversity he bravely faced made his faith even stronger. He was inspired by the Bible verse written on the whiteboard in his hospital room: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10)."

At the tender age of 4, Austin endured the first of three open-heart surgeries. The second came when he was 16, followed by the third in December 2025. Austin loved playing Little League baseball, but his heart condition brought his playing days to a premature and frustrating end. Still, his enthusiasm for the game never wavered. He remained a passionate baseball fan and savant who loved compiling and analyzing baseball statistics and could summon a vast array of data from memory. Austin used his skills to create a website for Prospects Worldwide, a baseball scouting service, and dreamed of becoming a professional scout. In the summer of 2013, he interned with the Brazos Valley Bombers during their national championship season. Austin was a devout New York Yankees fan for many years before switching his allegiance to the Texas Rangers.

He enjoyed fishing with friends at lakes across Texas and occasionally on the beach in Galveston, and deeply loved his dogs, Mini and Nena. Austin delighted in traveling, not just in the United States, but around the world. In his early 20s, he obtained a visa and worked on farms and as a barista in Australia for about 3 months. He traveled the world and visited extended family in the Philippines.

Austin Lee Farmer was born on April 21, 1995, in Bern, Switzerland, to Monette Ellerbrock and Larry Farmer. He was raised in College Station and graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 2013. Austin attended Blinn College and earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Sam Houston State in 2023. He was a part-time sports staffer at The Eagle newspaper in Bryan/College Station since high school and also worked as a medical courier and with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Austin was a longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station.

He is survived by his mother, Monette Ellerbrock, of College Station; his father, Larry Farmer, of College Station; a brother, Jericho Farmer, and his wife Camille; grandmother, Lynelle Young; aunts, Linda, Lawanna, and Yolanda Lazaro Evidente; uncles Ely Lazaro and Ruperto Lazaro; and numerous cousins in the United States and the Philippines.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a GoFundMe account (gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-austin-farmer) to help cover Austin's funeral and residual medical expenses. Donations are also encouraged to the American Heart Association or the Ronald McDonald House, which took amazing care of Austin's family during his first heart surgery in 1999.
