Benjamin McKenzie Obituary

April 12, 1974 – October 21, 2009

Benjamin "Ben" Patrick McKenzie, 35, of Bryan and Allegan, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 24, at Hillier Funeral Home. Services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25, at Hillier Funeral Home. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell, Mich.

Ben was born on April 12, 1974, in Plainwell, Mich., to Gary McKenzie and Mary Hudson. He was a proud Marine, having served in the U.S. Marines from 1992 to 1996. He worked for Nucor Steel in Jewett, Texas, for ten years, and was most recently employed by Rolligon/National Oil Well Varco.

He had a love of motorcycles and the open road. He also enjoyed playing billiards and spending time with his friends. His smile was contagious, it would light up a room the second he walked in.

He was always there for his family and friends and they for him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin and Hazel McKenzie and Fred and Patricia Clapper.

Survivors include his son, Blaine McKenzie; father, Gary McKenzie; mother and stepfather, Mary and Tom Hudson; sisters, Rachel McKenzie, Robin Souza and Karen Hettinger; brother, Thomas Hudson; fiancé, Erin Robison and her children, Taylor and Andrew Medina; beloved friends, Travis Hines and Cody Post; and numerous other friends and family members.

Memorials may be to Ben's son, Blaine, in care of Hillier Funeral Home.
