I didn´t know Bobby at all. I was the Marine that escorted Bobby home to TX. I considered it an honor to do so. I will always remember Bobby though. I remember the love I witnessed while attending his viewing and funeral. I think about Bobby and the experience often, more then most of my nine years in the Corps. Those few days will be the most clear memories that I will carry. I know Bobby will never be forgotten by those that lived and served with him, but he will always be remembered by me as well.
I loved reading the stories of the Marines remembering you years later. While I didn´t know you in life, your life has a place in my heart forever.

bobby, i didnt even know that was you that day. sorry for the tuff ride cowboy. i was on blue diamond (Less than a half of a mile) when they gave "out river city." We had the same bus ride, the same boot camp plt, same friends at home, same everything...except for M.O.S. you went one way and i went the other. So similiar. but yet when i saw you in Iraq. you had change. You were A MARINE! and i was still just me. You were going places and i could see that. Every one could see that. It stopped my heart when i heard it was you. I didnt and still dont know what to say. i slightly knew you as bobby...but we all knew you as twitty (hello darlen.) Remember bud "I'd rather be haulen hay with Delgados, or hell you van than be here" well now you are up there and im down here....you passing away was the last thing i wanted on my b-day brother. god bless and also put in the good word with the C.O. upstairs... i could sure use the help. may you rest in peace and your wings be free, for the sky is your home and its were we all will end up.

Hey BROTHER! Had a Marine checked in to my unit this week and he reminded me of you. You as a SGT I had to put him in his place. Same thing you woulda done! He was always smiling and had great bootcamp stories. Kinda brought me back to our good stories we had. I had a dream that you asked if I was ever going to visit you in "The Heart of the U. S. of freakin A! I told you from day 1 that I would. Just gotta figure out how to get there, hahaha. Its a pretty big state. My wife asked me if we were gunna go to texas today. And I ask her why. She said " Have you forgotten about your your friend, your brother, the man who made you realize that the Marine Corps is how we as people should live as. You were one man who didnt judge me because I was Asain. You treated me like a human being. I miss you dearly! I know Im just talking nonsense but that is how our conversations usually go, hahaha. Oh yea, my wife will give birth to our second little girl any day now. Wish you were here with me to help me shine my guns to keep the boys away. Ill never forget you EVER.

To LCpl Twitty, Bobby's family: You had a great son and family member! I wished I could of spent as much time with him as you did. In our 1 year of knowing eachother I've come to learn that even though men were create differently we are still created equally. He IS a great man. I am sorry that I never meet any of you. Maybe one day when I come to TEXAS I will have the honor of meeting you all. To Mike Twitty: I am sorry I have not contacted you. As a SGT I'm a bust man. That also includes my wife, daughter and the one one the way. Please email me with your email so we can chat and talk about Bobby. I would love to talk to you. Im in the process of changing numbers so once you contact me will that info I will call you. Thanks for having this site for me to remember my BROTHER!!!

Dear Lance Cpl Bobby L Twitty,

Though I do not know you personally I know of your story. My boyfriend, Matthew Stevenson was your room mate. There is not a day that goes by where he does not think of you, he misses you greatly, I can see it in his eyes. One day, when the time is right we will fly to Texas to visit you. Please know you are not forgotten. We think of you on a daily basis. It breaks my heart to think of all you left behind, but I am forever humbled and grateful for your sacrifices.

I have been told of the tragic day and though the story is hard to tell I am glad to have been told it. I know you are in a better place now, but I wish I could have gotten the chance to meet you.

Please know we think of you and your family daily and send you all prayers. Hopefully you know how much you meant to Matthew.

Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.

LCpl Bobby L Twitty,

I've missed you dearly. I still remember all those times I had to help you fix your rack in boot camp so we wouldnt get in trouble. You were the first person to meet my wife after we graduated boot camp. Those were the good ol' days. August of 2006 you came to visit me while I was in training and talked about the two of us visiting your home town. Haven't had the chance to yet, but trust me Ill find you. When I found out about what happened I was in denial. How could someone like you, "the Heart of TEXAS" been taken away from us. Since 2007 I have lived my military life for the two of us. You have always motivated me. We talked about becoming NCO's one day. Well, look brother. Im a Sergeant of Marines now because of you. Remember that! Keep me and my family safe. Love and miss you.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Hey Twitty Bobby...I know you can't read this but I know this message will get to you somehow. I remember everything like it just happened yesterday. I know you're in a better place now but I can't shake the feeling like there something I could've done to prevent you from leaving us so soon. Since you left, I keep thinking to myself that if only I did this or if only I did that, then maybe I could've done something to make a difference. Since I was a person responsible for your well-being, I strongly feel that I not only let you down, but also your family, in the worst way possible...and I can't say SORRY enough to you or your family. It just happened way to fast and way too sudden. Twitty Bobby, you're a great Marine and a great person and I want you to know that. I miss you a lot and I hope you're having fun up there.

In Memory of Bobby Lee ~ (Debra Estep)

July 22, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Bobby, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Angel and Jimmy,
I just recently found out about Bobby, I am so sorry for your loss. I could not imagine the pain of losing my child. I don't think I could bear it. I know that you all have gone your seperate ways, so I want to extend my sorrow to the entire family. I can remember Little Jimmy and Bobby as very small children, and how close the two of them were so I can only imagine the pain Little Jimmy must feel. As for Jimmy and Angel the loss of Bobby must have torn your world apart, as well as your spouces. I pray that all of you can heal from your pain. Please know that I have all of you in my heart. To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
