Charles Levett Obituary

Charles Thomas "Tom" Levett, 80, of Hilltop Lakes, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012. No services are planned at this time.

Tom was born on February 8, 1932 in Topeka, Kan., the son of the late Thomas Charles Levett and Mildred Opal Waltman. Following graduation from Seaman High School in 1949, and attending Washburn Municipal University for one semester, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as an Electronics Technician 3rd Class aboard the USS Gunston Hall during the Korean War.

Following the war, Tom returned to Topeka, where he completed his education at Washburn, married Barbara Jane Streeter (also from Topeka) and raised two children. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 35 years in the Plastics Division, both in Bartlesville, Okla., and Pasadena, Texas. He retired to Hilltop Lakes in 1992. After the passing of his first wife Barbara in 1997, he married Karen Eureva Travis, of Topeka, in 2005.

Tom was an avid genealogist and was a member of both the Texas Research Ramblers and the Topeka Genealogical Society together with his wife Karen.

Tom is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Jon Kyle Levett and wife Julie of Jacksonville, Texas and Bryce Alan Levett and wife Hege of Katy, Texas; two step-daughters, Bryn Renee Peterson and husband Joel of Minneapolis, Minn., and Robyn Lynn Farney and husband David of Nampa, Ind.; and six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Hans, Emma, Lucy and Lyla.
