Charles Schultz Obituary

December 6, 1935 – July 26, 2012

Charles Roy Schultz, 76, of College Station, passed away Thursday morning, July 26, 2012, only five days before his wife, Frances Elizabeth Schultz.

A Combination Memorial Service celebrating the lives of both Charles and Frances will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Grace Bible Church Southwood location at 2901 Harvey Mitchell Parkway in College Station. Arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory in Bryan.

Charles was born December 6, 1935, in Giddings, Texas, to Walter and Irma Schultz. He was a lifetime rancher in Lee County. Before becoming a rancher, Charles received a Bachelors Degree from Texas Lutheran College, a Masters Degree in Library Science from Ohio State, and a Doctorate in Oral History from Bowling Green University.

Charles worked as an Archivist for Texas A&M University. He served as head of the archives and held the Clemens Chair for many years. He served as President of the Brazos County Historical Society, and was a standing member of the Presidents Society Southwest Archivist. He was also a member of the Naval History Board in Annapolis, and he was an Admiral in the Texas Naval Reserve.

He was survived briefly by his wife, Frances Elizabeth Schultz, who passed away just five short days after him.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, George and Elsa Schultz, of College Station, Paul and Sara Schultz, of Austin; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Le'Rayne Schultz, of Austin; sister, Waldeen Hollingsworth, of Austin; and seven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in their memory to the Still Creek Boys Ranch at 6055 Hearne Rd., Bryan, TX 77808.

George and Paul, I became friends with your mom through Aerofit and met your Dad through her. They were delightful people, I especially enjoyed your mom, she loved life and had such a wonderful curiousity and positive attitude. It was so sad to see her health decline this last year.
