Connie Mantey Obituary

August 8, 1958 - May 20, 2018

Connie Plant Mantey, 59, of Somerville, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 20.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 22, 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with family present from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Services will be Wednesday, May 23, 10 am at the Yegua Center in Somerville, with interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Connie was a proud business owner in Burleson County. She ran Ricky's Catering and Mantey Country in Somerville with her husband Ricky. Sr. and kept the business going after his death. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Somerville, Somerville Rotary Club, Caldwell Burleson County Lions Club and a past director of the Burleson County Fair Association. Connie particularly loved the fair parade, creative living and poultry divisions of the fair.

Connie never met a stranger and greeted everyone with "hey baby" or "how are you doing honey". If she saw you more than once, she would tell you she loved you.

Family was the most important thing to Connie. She loved her children and grandchildren more than words could express. To her family and friends, she was known as "Nonnie". She loved shopping, camping, vacationing at the Texas Coast in Rockport, slot machines and George Strait.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ricky Dale Mantey, Sr.; father, William Q. Plant Jr.; paternal grandparents, William Q. Plant, Sr. and Alberta; maternal grandparents, Frank and Milady Moravec.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, Gladys West; In-laws, Herbert and Ida Jean Mantey; two sons, Ricky Dale Mantey, Jr. and wife Kara, Patrick Mantey; brothers, Franklin West and wife Cherie, James West and wife Sharon, George West and wife Marcia; sisters, Brenda Hayes and special friend Mark Davidson, Bonnie West; brothers-in-law; Mark Mantey and wife Karen, Robert Mantey and wife Janet, Mike Mantey and wife Julie; sister-in-law, Connie Sebesta and Husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Kenner Wayne Mantey, Kanzie Louise Mantey, Kyleigh Faith Mantey, Kingsley Grace Mantey, Rixton Dale Mantey along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.

Pallbearers are Franklin West, Ken Tharp, Waylon Edwards, Mark Davidson, John Adam Niemeyer, Collin Hayes, Russell Bentke, Cabin Warmke, Davey Lockhart and Zack Holcomb.

Memorials may be given to the First Lutheran Church of Somerville.
